Ric wasn't even all that surprised to walk into his apartment and find Damon on his couch, drinking his alcohol. He startled just a little, but only a little, then rolled his eyes and dropped his things on the other end of the sofa. "Make yourself at home."

Damon just arched an eyebrow and raised the bourbon to his lips.

"You've been busy lately."

Possibly it sounded a little accusatory, but he wasn't pouting. Much.

"I have been," he agreed, mildly. "I'll call more often. Send notes. Send up smoke signals?" He was being almost gentle about it. He absolutely was not going to abandon Damon. "We can set up days to meet and drink if you want."

"Where have you been?" If he was acting like a jealous child, blame his brother, at least partly. Ric was all he had, really, while Elena wishy-washed her way back to Stefan after all he'd done.

He was mildly placated by the idea of making plans, but, at the same time, it was still...unsettling.
