I always thought that was a little weird as well to be honest. I outline the entire book beofre I really get started on it (and have this one done like that), but I try and leave a little wiggle room for things to be fluid. The real question I'm having is this, how damn big is this going to be. I wanted a certain event to happen around page 60 or so, well I'm way past that and I haven't gotten to that point yet that I feel like the story really starts to take flight.
When I send this to you, let me know how the pacing works. Should I try to get to get the good stuff faster, is part of it slow? The end of where I send you is the part that I intended to be page 60 (not counting the prologue).
I'm mainly sending the prologue to you, because you and Ellis will actually recognize some of the characters in it, as it takes place about 30 years or so after the actual beginning of the book, and I may not include it at all, but always had a good idea of how that day went down. Anyway, you'll see.
