Well I wrote a ton today. I got up early and listened to music and wrote about 20 pages. This chapter won't in, it's now about 40 pages long, and has at least 10 more pages. I think I'm going to have to reorganize the chapters, as the breaks I thought would exist just haven't ( Read more... )

It's odd to hear that a story writes itself, in some fashion. I've always heard authors says that at a certain point, the characters take their own path and may not be anything like the writers original intent.

It's as much a surprise to you as me PJ.

I always thought that was a little weird as well to be honest. I outline the entire book beofre I really get started on it (and have this one done like that), but I try and leave a little wiggle room for things to be fluid. It wasn't that I didn't know a lot of information about the characters, it was their mannerism.

Anyway, it's the first time it has ever happened to me, and I'm in as big a shock as you are.

Well, I always hear it from all the good writers. So, take that as a compliment :)

I've had NPC's do that during D&D games quite often, so I guess I wasn't surprised when Jeen the Powrie suddenly informed me she was 1. Stickin' around and 2. Gonna be important even if I didn't want her to :)

Yes. Their about to vanish out of this book completely, but I think I have a nice place for them much, much later.

The real question I'm having is this, how damn big is this going to be. I wanted a certain event to happen around page 60 or so, well I'm way past that and I haven't gotten to that point yet that I feel like the story really starts to take flight.

When I send this to you, let me know how the pacing works. Should I try to get to get the good stuff faster, is part of it slow? The end of where I send you is the part that I intended to be page 60 (not counting the prologue).

I'm mainly sending the prologue to you, because you and Ellis will actually recognize some of the characters in it, as it takes place about 30 years or so after the actual beginning of the book, and I may not include it at all, but always had a good idea of how that day went down. Anyway, you'll see.
