I was down in the LES last week for the first time in about 7 years and I wanted to cry. What a sad state of affairs. I'd heard all about it, but it wasn't the same as seeing it with my own two eyes.

The phrase "SoBro", along with the fact that the Corcoran demon coined it (or at least she claims to), makes me want to cry.

Sooner or later i will figure out how to convince the world that Yonkers is beyond tragically cool. Of course, i just need to figure out how to woo Barbara Corcoran. i mean come on it's slightly more possible than winning mega millions. plus, really, you know how fucked the world would be if i controlled vast swaths of real estate.

PS: I have no clue if you read Curbed, but my lord it is one gleefully schadenfreude-laden website. it can be so damn funny, though.

okay that is all. happy tuesday. beware of trombone.

The first graphic is from New York magazine and is a time line of when these neighborhoods were "hip," though it also manages to be a functional time line for gentrification, too. I am guessing that Crown/"Prospect" Heights does not show up because I don't think it was ever "hip" to live in Crown/"Prospect" Heights.

I hope my students know how lucky they are to be living in such a hip neighborhood.

PS. We must talk before the night is through! I leave super early tomorrow morning.
