I feel that Paris Hilton SHOULD go to jail for forty-five days.
Do, I really care about her issues? No. I do care that not having here be accountable for her actions sends the wrong message to us all (as Americans). If she is not punished for driving with a suspended license (after a DUI conviction - to which she pled "nolo contendere"), then why should the rest of us obey traffic laws, or any law for that matter?
I must admit that in many cases I bend the laws or rules to suit my pleasure, and I recognize that it is wrong. Do I pay my fines, yes... eventually (ok, I am not the most timely about it, but that just hurts my balance sheet).
It seems that Ms. Hilton does not even realize that as a citizen (and a sentient being) she is responsible for her own actions, and that no matter how much she pays her "handlers" they cannot be required to take responsibility for her. A sex tape, a scandalous record, and a famous family certainly do not make one great or exempt from person responsibility.
Ok, more than my two cents on the subject, and I hope the media can report on more important things (like the crash of a Kenya air jet that may have ended the lives of all 114 people on board). In comparison, I would like to hear about the lives of the people in Kenya much more than the life of a wealthy careless woman in California.
