If yet another fifth year tries to sneak past the shield around the school that's keeping the zombies out, I think Filch and Hagrid are going to have aneurysms. Honestly, you see a few Muggle films and you think you're invincible.

[some laughter and a few gunshots in the background]

Well I don't know professor, it's been working pretty well for the muggles out here.

Perhaps, but I'd prefer not to unleash a group of preteens with delusions of grandeur out there.

Good point. I was wondering though, couldn't you just get rid of the zombies with magic? Or are you just going to wait and hope they disappear?

We've tried, but the most useful magics are either ineffective or out of the question. We can't use Vanishing Charms because they're in some ways alive, but we can't use Killing Curses because they're in some ways already dead... I understand that they're afraid of fire, but the school is next to a forest and I don't relish the idea of what could happen if we tried that.

Why would people WANT to go out there!?

Because they think they'll unleash a few spells and defeat the whole horde of zombies without being careful in the least.

Then they're idiots! These things are dangerous, and they're not even super humans, right?

Well, they do have magic, but they still shouldn't be out there to begin with. I don't think they're idiots, but some of them have a bit too much recklessness in them.

Yes, in my world people can be born with magical abilities.

There's always a few who have to play the hero.

Unfortunately so. And while I appreciate the intent, throwing oneself at a zombie horde needlessly is a recipe for disaster.

Just a bit, yeah. You'd think that they'd have the sense to stay where it's safe, I mean, of all the places zombies wouldn't be able to get in, I'd say Hogwarts is on the top of the list.

Yes, and we've done very well with using magical barriers to keep that out. But some of the students see slow-moving monsters and see a chance to impress their peers or have an adventure or I don't know what.
