"They are smart. They are creative, they are committed. They have no regard for life, either ours or their own. I believe this was not an act of desperation, but an act of asymmetrical warfare waged against us." - Rear Admiral Harry Harris, on Saturday.

"We had decided this was a safe person, free to be released, but we needed a country to send ( Read more... )

Mate, you are sounding like a religious nutbag now, did you mean to?
I don't like the whole situaution anymore than the next person, but what would you do? What is the workable, non soft as shit alternative? Love everybody, give them cuddles, puppies and then sit back and let them blow the shit out of this beautiful world we live in? How would you rid the world of terrorism?
As for the quotes you have shown, we have 2 on either side of the fence here, probably combining them both would come up with a more accurate description of the situation. Something along the lines of 'we think this guy is a terrorist but unfortunately can't prove it so we were trying to find somewhere to send him. In the mean time, he decided that he wasn't going to be any more use to his god, so he killed himself' - sound more accurate?

Actually try these people. Actually use some proper justice. No I don't want to be soft on them. But we're being harder on them than on child molesters, and I think that is worse.

I hate terrorism too. Love isn't all about cuddles - you know that with your school kids! Sometimes the loving thing to do is put them in detention. But you don't show love to anyone by telling them to go to their room without dinner, then not telling them exactly why or giving them any chance to defend themself in any way, and not letting them out for the next three years.

I'm not advocating soft mercy. I'm advocating fairness. Justice. We try murderers and paedophiles. And then we sentence them. We don't just stick them in prison long-term on suspicion of maybe having been in the neighbourhood at the time of the rape.

(See below for more length on this if you want)

James 2:13 "because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!"

Judgement without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful, by GOD, not by us! That's the whole point of the new testament, is that God is the Judge, and we are responsible for making sure our own actions are in line with his love ( ... )

check out what Vixx says above about me being a religious nut. Being a religious nut shouldn't be a bad thing, if it's about Christianity, should it?
So if I started spouting about what I believe and saying that anyone who doesn't treat people the way that I believe they should be treated, then I would be a religious nut and in my caseit would be a bad thing? But as you are doing it with regard to the Christian God, then it's a good thing? That smacks of double standards to me.

The whole tone of this post and your recent posts regarding this issue is condascending and you sound as if you think that you are better than everyone else simply because you know some bible quotes. If the words of the bible are so relavent today, then why isn't all of it relavent? I mean, is it only the new testament that's realvent? Or, should we all refrain from eating shellfish or wearing clothes of mixed fabrics? Is homosexuality a sin? There are so many discrepancies in the testaments, which bits should we hold dear and bulid our lives around?

That's not what I said Vixx. Being a nut about love should not be able to be construed as a bad thing. Would you disagree with that? If that is so, then being a nut about Christianity should not be a bad thing either, since that is what Christianity is fundamentally about ( ... )

I am going to hold off a bit, as all I heard today was that there were suicide notes left. I really like to get more facts before I take a strong posistion on most anything. (which one would think news outlets would do, if they didn't have an agenda). (example, the supposed cover-up of a civilian massecre was literally reported while it was happening, and an immediate investigation was started ( ... )
