Sitting in the park, wasting time

Methos sits in the part near his new apartment. He managed to get very, very drunk last night and missed library work at all today, after the debacle with Draco. Now, he's nursing a hangover and trying to figure out how to find the Immortal who isn't Draco.

Janet is on one of her rare forays into town when she sees Professor Methos in the park. He looks almost as hung over as the students who attended Liz's victory party last night. She doesn't decide whether to tease him or be sympathetic until she sits down.

"Hey," says Janet quietly, letting her backpack slide off her shoulder and onto the ground next to the bench. "You don't look so good. Feeling okay?"

"Well, define okay. I'm not going to die. It would be just a merciful result." He pauses and then says, "It was a piss-poor way to treat a fine Scotch, but yesterday was..." He shudders.

"I personally feel that death should be staved off as long as possible," says Janet dryly. "It tends to be a painful and traumatic experience." She slumps down a bit and gets comfortable on the bench. From the looks of it, this wasn't going to be one of those 'tease the professor' kind of days. "So what happened yesterday to cause you to abuse a defenseless bottle of scotch?"

"Never mind me, I'm being metaphorical. Or sarcastic. Or self-pitying. Although you do sound rather... educated on the topic. As for what happened... you might be the one person who hasn't heard about me making a fool of myself and nearly skewing a student, so perhaps I should keep you in happy ignorance. Happy for me, that is."

And the scotch had it coming.

*looks up and smiles. It's a poor excuse for a smile*

I'm fine. Just paying the piper for overindulgence the night before.

I see. And is there any particular reason you feel the need to pay the piper out here in the park as compared to say, comfortably at your residence?

*pauses*

Ah... misery loves company? Or at least, the possibility of company. I'm Adam, by the way.
