"My first lesson swordfighting here and I get to wander through a maze," Ralph murmured with a small, bitter smile. Her bitterness, however, was not really directed at Michiru and her choice of teaching. It was derived from the fact that she had not been invited to join Haruka and several others on some kind of mission to Japan. She realized she could not always go wherever her friend went, but it hurt nonetheless
( ... )
Ralph gave a startled exclaim when the ground suddenly disappeared from under her and she fell down into a pit of several feet deep. There was a thud, followed up by a soft groan. "That hurt," she muttered, one hand moving slowly to her back.
For a moment, she seriously considered just lying there. The ground wasn't all that uncomfortable and it would certainly not hurt her back. But Michiru had worked hard on this. And she could almost hear Haruka asking her if she'd give up already. She didn't want to disappoint either of them - even though she was slightly annoyed with one of them - and thus forced herself to scramble back up on her feet.
Ralph quickly worked herself up and out of the pit. More cautious now, she started moving forward again, searching for the exit.
The trees decided to take offense at the blonde woman, unleashing seeds and nuts with frightful intensity at the girl. Small as they were, they were released with a speed that could cause much damage. They ripped through the surrounding foliage and created deep holes within the dirt floor.
"Oh!" Katelyn's eyes grew wide upon seeing the beautiful new battleground, a huge smile appearing on her face as she gazed into the natural beauty of the gardens.
She listened intently at the pretty Art professor in her cute sundress. At first, Katelyn was slightly distracted by Michiru's appearance, wishing that she herself could look so ladylike. However, the thought of running around through a maze sounded like a lot of fun.
She paused to ask the professor, "Teacher, can we play in the garden after we make it though the maze, or..." Before she could finish, she noticed that most of the other students had already taken off into the maze. Not wanting to do poorly, and also thinking that her many wild forms would almost certainly help her to navigate any obsticales that she came across, she instead turned into a leopard and darted swiftly through those two trees, her four feet quickly catching up to the other students despite their head start.
Katelyn's leopard may have caught up to the students, but as she entered, the maze itself moved to separate Katelyn from the other students, the foliage moving and growing, weaving leaves and branches and shrubbery a shrubbery! to block the girl's path.
Not missing a step, Katelyn shifted forms again to deal with the new threat. At first she thought to turn into a stampeding elephant to simply burst through the weak barrier, but it would not be much fun to simply run a direct path literally through the course. Nor would taking the form of a hawk and soaring above it, assuming that the professor had not already thought to ground any flyers with the enchanted foliage.
Instead, the jungle cat leaped towards the bushes and landed in the form of a humble gopher, which began to quickly dig/crawl/burrow underneath and around the shrubs that began sprouting up.

'Ara, I hope I didn't make it too difficult,' she thought to herself. '"Massive chaos" didn't sound too dangerous ...
