>> Route 3, Final Chapter: Alive
Projected time to collapse: 11 hours, 58 minutes
We have arrived in IBF!
The medical capsules explained.
Coco and her father set to heal.
Learning about Tief Blau.
Coco's father dies.
Things generally go much as they did before.
Projected time to collapse: 11 hours, 18 minutes
Look, Tsugumi.
It's not like there's much I CAN do at this point.
It's hard to tell whether my optimism is taking root here, or if she's just making fun of me.
Tsugumi starts putting mysteries together.
Tief Blau's incubation period was 2 to 7 days.
Coco must have visited IBF before getting trapped.
The alarm we heard on the first day was probably the panicked escaping researchers from IBF.
In other words, LeMU wasn't evacuated because of damage to the facility.
It was evacuated to keep Tief Blau from reaching the surface.
This just makes it even more important that we escape!
We need to tell the media about these assholes.
Huh.
Is my nose bleeding?
And we're back here again.
Makes sense, if Lieblich locked us down here to prevent a Tief Blau outbreak.
We probably all have it.
Projected time to collapse: 9 hours, 54 minutes
We've all taken the shot to fight the symptoms, but it's a temporary fix.
We need to maximize overall survival rates by any means possible.
Mr. Yagami's dead, so someone else can use his oxygen pod.
Kid doesn't want to leave Coco's side!
This argument is interrupted, however, by the discovery that we still have one injection left.
Tsugumi hasn't taken hers.
Tsugumi's scan turns up a virus, but it's not Tief Blau!
Thanks to Cure, she's the only one not infected.
Tsugumi immediately goes into the defensive, assuming she'll be hated for being the one who doesn't have to suffer!
She even goes as far as to regret saving Coco, because it means that she's suffering now.
WELL YOU KNOW WHAT
THERE'S MORE TO IT THAN THAT
Tsugumi might be our last chance to get out of this alive.
If we make the slightest mistake, we'd be dead.
But if we do nothing, we're dead anyway.
You's in favor of it.
But Tsugumi...
...Tsugumi doesn't want us to have to endure what she has.
But there's a chance that we won't get it. Tsugumi was a rare special carrier; there's no guarantee that we'll get Cure from this.
TSUGUMI
LET'S SEE YOU CLENCH THOSE TEETH
Destroying the last vial of serum leaves us with no choice but to rely on Tsugumi.
What do you think of that?
This argument is over.
Curse me all you want after we get out of this.
I've lost track of time.
Did we do it?
I can hear voices.
Tsugumi's going somewhere.
She's going to get Chami.
Projected time to collapse: 7 hours, 15 minutes
I'm alive.
Groggy and numb, but alive.
And awake just in time to get the call from the rescue team!
The rescue team arrives in one hour.
LeMU is already past its limits.
It's collapsing ahead of schedule, and Tsugumi's still in there.
No real question at this point, is there?
Time to go back to LeMU.
One insane suicidal decompression later!
Tsugumi is trapped in the infirmary.
I have to save her ass.
Sora's more cooperative this time, giving me directions through the collapsing complex. All she asks in return is that I promise to bring Tsugumi back.
The only problem is that all the routes to the infirmary are flooded.
AS IF A LITTLE WATER WILL KEEP ME AWAY FROM HER
TSUGUMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Just here to pick up what was left behind.
A friend.
We have a lot more arguments to have still.
So let's go back, Tsugumi.
Together.
That's my girl.
Somehow it feels like I'm in no rush.
I can't imagine failing now. Not with her by my side.
Water floods LeMMIH, and Sora's image disappears.
Back in IBF now!
It's quiet.
It's been more than an hour.
We missed the extraction.
Mission control is here!
They can send the sub back, but it might or might not make it in time.
In the worst case, we have a small submersible of our own. It's designed for one person, but can probably fit two in a pinch.
The others are in serious condition, but alive.
Then, my adrenaline rush ends, and I pass out on the spot.
When I wake up, I'm very calm.
Kind of sad that I'll have to wake up the rest of the way. This is pretty nice.
Okay, that's not so bad, either.
I don't know what time it is, or how much time we have left, and I feel like shit.
But it could be worse, really.
Sunday, May 7th
Still nobody here.
Looks like our Get Out of Jail Free Card was a letdown.
Antics and flirting.
Chami's here, too!
We're safe for the moment. Just some last time to wait and see what happens.
She smiles, but the tears won't stop.
There are people who die who wanted to keep on living.
There are people who keep on living who wanted to die.
Tsugumi taught me all about it.
This is what I was trying and failing to say before.
As long as you're alive, it's okay to go on living.
Tsugumi's been looking better herself.
Bleeding finger, blood on her mouth.
I wouldn't trade her for the world.
Awake again.
Feeling refreshed.
Our two-person taxi has arrived.
Pipi is here, against all odds, on the brink of death. Another miracle.
With him was this disc. I wonder what's on it.
Or who's on it.
There's a thunderous crash, and a warning from the console.
Time's a-wasting.
Some of my Takeshi Brand Optimism seems to have rubbed off on the girl.
Let's get the hell outta here!
The mini-sub is here!
Three minutes to go.
As we pull away, we get front row seats to the death of LeMU.
So many things we can do once we get out there.
For now, let's just...
...it was nothing, right?
Just our imaginations.
There's a warning light on the console.
Neither of us wants to look.
Finally, I give in...
Low battery
No.
No, no, no.
The density of the submarine exceeds the surrounding water. We can't drain the ballast.
We're sinking again.
Okay, think this through.
We could let out pressurized air, but it wouldn't be enough, and we don't have enough spare air to breathe for the journey in that case.
We need to lose ballast, but the ballast tank is electrically controlled, and therefore inoperative.
All the machinery is welded tight, so we can't toss it.
No tools. Nothing here.
We're fucked.
Well!
Time to solve a problem.
The mini-sub has a two-ply hatch. Sort of a faux-airlock.
[ BGM -
Karma ]
Sorry, Tsugumi, but I can't hear you very well through all this glass.
Damn right I'm an idiot.
But I'm gonna make this baby float.
As long as you're alive, live.
Everything's gonna be okay, got it?
Hey, look at that. I got the outer hatch open.
I only see her for one last moment before getting pulled out into the ocean.
As long as you're alive, live.
I'll make this moment last as long as I can.
I'm here.
I'm here.
I'm here...
THE END?
Three paths down, two to go!
