When we last left our hero, he was getting ready to kill himself! BUT WHY?
From the pause menu, you can kill yourself at any time. I tend to use this to start over on runs that start poorly, but here I'm using it to die on a good run. The reason is that the Ankh's power is to revive the user when they die. And, if used in front of a Moai...
...you revive INSIDE the Moai.
I now have the first of the two keys to the City of Gold! We must make haste.
Foolish Yeti King. You are nothing before my boom stick!
Now we enter the final area of the game, the Temple Zone! We still, however, have one more item to get before we'll have access to the City of Gold.
Tomb Lords are kind of hard to get screenshots of. You can tell where it is by the direction of the plague of flies!
THIS time, I defeat the Tomb Lord and get my true reward, the Scepter of Ra. I shall now attempt the daunting task of carrying both the Scepter and the shotgun!
Unfortunately, this great idea is cut short by a level exit! I can only take one item with me, so I'll choose the Scepter.
In addition to being a key, the Hedjet gives me a permanent light source! How convenient.
By the way, this is what the Scepter does. It shoots out homing energy bubbles that instantly kill anything they touch.
Uh... yeah. Can't leave yet, though, as I'm looking for something on this floor.
Bingo.
Goodbye, Scepter of Ra...
...hello, CITY OF GOLD.
The legendary City of Gold exists, and I am in it! It is time...
...to MINE.
I will tear this city to pieces in search of the wondrous GOOOOLD.
Unfortunately my health is starting to run short, so I'll call this enough.
See that number? Count the zeroes. It's more money than I made on my ENTIRE RUN with the Spelunker.
Oh yeah, Olmec. And I'm unarmed now.
...Yeah, screw that.
I'm just gonna head up and get even MORE cash!
And so I die, with over double my old money. Still not my record, but you have now seen most of what Spelunky has to offer!
