>> Fate Chapter 6: They Are On A Team
Welcome back! Let's fix some mistake here.
But first, a new feature!
Fate/Encyclopaedia
Here I will, at a rate of one per post as long as I have stuff in backlog, give tidbits from F/SN's background into content. Of which there is quite a bit - mostly character and weapon data.
Tora-Shinai
Shinai were originally suggested by a prominent swordsman in Japan, Kamiizumi Nobutsuna, as a weapon to be used in matches in place of real swords and wooden swords, but...
Leaving all such complicated stories aside,
Tora-Shinai is Fuji-Nee's favored sword of choice.
Roll back five years.
Because the tiger strap on the Shinai was considered bad manners, she was not permitted to enter some official tournaments.
The kendo club members complained that her name would have been known all over Japan were it not for this Shinai, but they were rather relieved she stayed unknown.
A demonic sword that will not rest until it tastes blood, still sealed by the Fujimura family.
Our fatal error last time was forgetting a vital piece of information:
SHIRO EMIYA IS A MAN.
And will a real man leave a lady in distress, even if joining the fight is obvious suicide? FUCK NO!
>Save Saber...!
Maybe I'm stronger than Saber! Who the hell knows!
Time for operation PUSH SABER OUT OF THE WAY
And then get out of the way myse
Huh!
BAD E-
Nope! I'm still alive.
This is the only sort of strategy Early Game Shirou is capable of: Be so balls-out dumb that the enemy is confused into letting you live.
Then again, there's still the problem of how I took a direct hit from Berserker, which seems to have done some non-negligible damage to various organs.
Let's see how that goes!
February 3rd
Flashback tiiiime!
Not much happened in Shirou's backstory, aside from that one time, so most of his recollections are about Dad.
Dad mentions that he gave up on his childhood dream of superheroism. Shirou responds.
Ballsy kid! How does dad take that?
Well, maybe that will shed some light on why Shirou is so dumb about the whole superhero thing? IT WAS HIS DEATHBED OATH TO HIS FATHER.
But being a superhero is apparently hard! Enough plot, let's wake the fuck up.
Wait, weren't we dead?
If you think your hangovers are bad, imagine the buzzkill from this.
Shirou doesn't seem to remember last night. Time for status check!
Bathroom: Still there.
Bedroom: Still there.
Kitchen: Still there.
Tohsaka: Still there.
...Wait.
Tohsaka came and slept over without saying anything. Sure, it was probably because I was mostly dead, but hey! Harem up to four now, right? Surely she's enthralled to see me.
I SAVED ALL OUR ASSES HERE
WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME
Besides, sacrificing myself dramatically for Saber would've been a good idea in theory, right?
Oh right. It was dumb.
Rin only brought me to the church to try and keep me from being a horrible moron. It didn't work. Rin tsuns.
Moving on in this conversation!
I'm still a little hazy on the subject of why I'm not dead, so!
>Ask about yesterday.
Huh! So apparently I have HP Regen.
I don't know any healing magic, so maybe Saber's the cause? Is that bad?
So I'm apparently constantly draining Saber's mana to increase my own supply. This is kind of backwards!
Rin still thinks there's more to it than that. Either way, Saber's losing magic energy, and that's bad and also my fault.
Rin's tsun level gradually increases, and the argument stops making any sense, so let's skip past it.
So what now? I don't really care about the holy grail, I guess. But I have to go for it, because Servants really want it, and Saber'd probably kill me if I gave up. Also, other Masters will probably be senselessly murdering everyone, and man that I am, I can't ignore that shit!
TLDR happens. Shirou decides that he won't kill other Masters, but he'll fight them if they cause murders. In other words, SHONEN HERO INCOMPREHENSIBLE LOGIC.
This is also a problem due to BERSERKER IS STILL ALIVE AND IS GOING TO KILL US. Planning time!
Team up proposition! Rin will help me be a less shitty Master and magus in exchange for helping her kill Berserker. Or at least live against Berserker.
Then again, Rin's technically one of my enemies in this battle!
Tough call. Do I want to trust Rin?
Or do I want to fight Rin?
...Wait, oh god.
>...All right. Let's cooperate.
Antics ensue. We are allies until we beat Berserker, is the plan. I get a magic book.
What does it do?
STATUS SCREEN FUCK YEAH
More exposition, Rin teaches Shirou about Noble Phantasms, explains that you want to avoid using it because it gives away your Servant's identity.
I-IT'S NOT LIKE I LIKE YOU OR ANTHING
And that's all for today. Next time, we'll start digging into that Status Screen!
