I am Blick Winkel.
Takeshi is not Blick Winkel.
Hokuto is not Blick Winkel.
I, the player of Ever17, am Blick Winkel.
I am a perspective, watching the events of 2017 and 2034 unfold, overlapping with the existence of Hokuto.
He had no memories of his prior life because I have no memories of his prior life.
I do not exist in this world.
I am viewing it from one dimension up.
I can see other timelines.
I can move into the past, or into alternate futures, and see them, if I want.
I am not a 16-year-old kid named Hokuto.
I am me.
I am the observer.
I am the Third Eye.
I am the perspective that transcends time and space.
I am Blick Winkel.
I still don't understand.
Why do all this?
Why did I need to be called to this world?
If two-dimensional existences wanted to reach a three-dimensional existence, they would have to realign their two-dimensional plane to intersect the three-dimensional destination.
That's what they did, by creating a world wherein I couldn't tell if it was 2017 or 2034.
All this was done, You says, by my instruction.
I summoned myself to this world.
You is a three-dimensional being living in 2034.
To her, Coco and Takeshi's fates in 2017 are unreachable.
But to me...
2017.
Takeshi has cast himself into the ocean already, at this point. Tsugumi has lost everything.
Pipi reactivates, and starts pawing at the hatch.
He wants to go outside.
Pipi sinks.
51. feet. 102 feet. 153 feet.
At the bottom, two things are lying inert.
A human body, and a terabyte disk.
Leaving the body, the dog takes the disk back to IBF, which isn't far at all from here.
Pipi finds one who was left behind - his master.
But he can do nothing to help her, either.
Pipi can't do anything here.
He takes the disk and leaves IBF, this time swimming up instead of down.
And this was how Yubiseiharukana found out that Coco was still trapped in IBF.
The three people who were rescued from IBF were not You, Kaburaki and Coco.
They were You, Kaburai, and You's father.
Even so, what do you want me to do, You?
I am an observer. I cannot influence this world...

I cannot influence this world by myself.
But did I forget? I'm overlapping with Hokuto.
Using my perspective as a lone point of contact, Hokuto sends forth a message into the past.
And that was enough for a miracle to occur.
Defying logic, responding to Hokuto's will, Takeshi is revived.
All to travel those last few feet to the light he saw...
Takeshi comes back from the brink of death to return to IBF.
To return to where Coco is waiting.
But this is no place for Blick Winkel. Blick Winkel has no room to exist in this passionate consciousness.
I am Hokuto.
Dad, can you still hear me?
I seem to only be here as a disembodied voice.
Makes sense, since my body is still in 2034.
No time for rational thinking, dad!
We have to save Coco!
Takeshi is unusually strong, for someone who has Tief Blau, decompression sickness, AND is recovering from drowning at the bottom of the ocean.
Could Cure have taken effect? No, it takes five years...
There she is!
She only has time for a few seconds of confused conversation before she loses consciousness.
LeMU is still collapsing overhead.
There's no time to lose!
Okay, options!
Escaping by the pool is no go. Even if Coco could somehow hold her breath for 357 feet, the decompression would be lethal.
The elevator is cut off, the sub has already been used...
Acting fast, Takeshi gives Coco the last batch of Tsugumi's antibodies.
Her condition doesn't seem to be improving... she came to IBF before she came to LeMU, so she's had Tief Blau longer than the others.
There was an announcement before that said "5 minutes to implosion", but IBF is still here.
Maybe it was 5 minutes to LeMU imploding. IBF seems to be fine.

The oxygen treatment pods can put people in stasis!
There's no chance for help now, but maybe...
...in 17 years...
Before she goes into hibernation, Coco regains consciousness briefly.
She sees something behind Takeshi.
Me.
Huh, this Coco doesn't know my name.
She sees one other person here, too...
The one behind Hokuto.
The other "me".
Blick Winkel.
She doesn't know Hokuto, but she knows me.
Mr. 4th dimension, she says.

Takeshi will now sleep in the pod next to yours.
She wants a promise from me, though...

Many years from now, we will meet again.
Coco goes into a deep sleep.
Takeshi has no way to escape... not until the second rescue team in 2034.
So he goes to sleep, too.
The second pod closes. Both of them are asleep now, leaving just a disembodied perspective.
Our work isn't done here, though!
We need to let the others know that Takeshi and Coco are waiting down there.
There's somebody on the island!
Now we can pass our message along.
Yubiseiharukana, this might be a little hard for you to swallow.
But it's me. Someone you won't meet for another 17 years.
I tell her all I need to.
Pipi has video of Takeshi and Coco.
They're trapped down in IBF.
Someone needs to get to them as soon as possible!
Back in 2034. The future has changed. Everyone is living peacefully.
Was that all it took?
...no.
Things are different now.
If Takeshi and Coco are both saved in 2017, then the events of 2034 never happen.
Thusly, I am never called into this world in the first place.
Meaning that the Hokuto of this future never met me.
He couldn't send his voice back in time to awaken his father.
This world is a paradox. It denies its own basis for existing.
So in the reality of this world, Takeshi still isn't saved.
There's still more we have to do in the past...
...Hokuto, you aren't the right one to deal with this situation.
Let me do the talking this time.
Yubiseiharukana, I will appear again before you in 17 years.
But in order for me to do so, you need to trick me into thinking it's 2017 again.
Takeshi and Coco must remain in stasis for the next 17 years.
That way, the events leading to my summoning will occur, and I can go back in time to save them.
The plan is complicated, but not impossible when you have 17 years to prepare.
Tsugumi will come back if you say she can be reunited with her children.
Hokuto will come if you say he can meet his sister.
Sara will be there on a school trip.
Yubiseiakikana can be arranged to get a part time job at LeMU.
Sora's memory of the last week must be erased.
This seems like a desperate, far-fetched plan, but it's guaranteed to work.
I have seen it.
You is surprisingly accepting.
Once I'm sure she understands everything, I return to 2034.
It all makes sense now.
I'm the mastermind of the 2034 disaster.
I tricked my past self.
All for the sake of bringing Hokuto's voice back to 2017.
And in 2034, I have a body I can use!
The line between Hokuto and Blick Winkel is all but gone.
No time for feasible solutions.
With the power of Blick Winkel and the will of Hokuto...
...achieving the impossible is easy!
The pressure is devastating. I can't breathe.
But I feel no pain.
I'll be sure to return this body in one piece, Hokuto.
But for now, I need to use it to achieve a miracle.
If Takeshi could miraculously survive down here, so can I!

In the pods, Takeshi and Coco are both alive and well.

I know it took a long time, but I came back for you, just like I said I would.
Recovering from her Rip Van Winkle slumber, Coco flies into the arms of Hokuto. Or possibly Blick Winkel. The dfifference isn't really clear at this point.
Maybe Tsugumi's antibodies took effect over the last 17 years.
Whatever the reason, Coco seems alive and well now.
For THIS reunion, I, Blick Winkel, will step aside.
Hokuto can have this moment.
We meet at last!

Please remain calm, no matter what answer we give to this question.

Despite a healthy amount of flipping out from Takeshi, this is shaping up to be a happy reunion.
Now that they've been saved, there's one person who isn't needed here...

There is no longer any reason for Blick Winkel to exist in this world.

It's been a week since I arrived at LeMU, and I'm finally going home.
Or maybe it was 17 years.
The sea looks just like it did the day I arrived.
All of us - myself, Kaburaki, Hokuto, Tsugumi, Sora, Sara, You, You, Coco, Chami and Pipi - are going back to the mainland.
...oh god, tell me this is some kind of bizarre fever dream.
I'm 20 and I have two kids in high school.
