Having notably not exploded or been sucked into a infinitesimally halving hole of doom, I have to say that today was a pretty decent day for me. A. All day, I've been thinking of/reading end-of-the-world pick-up lines. Which means all day I've been thinking, "man, I miss Shoe."

B. I've been having the "must find suitable genes and make mini-Catherines" urge lately. It's not good, but luckily (I guess?) good genes are hard to find.

C. One of the reasons kids get bored by science is that too many teachers present it as a fusty collection of facts for memorization. This is precisely wrong. Science isn't about facts. It's about the quest for facts -- the scientific method, the process by which we hash through confusing thickets of ignorance. It's dynamic, argumentative, collaborative, competitive, filled with flashes of crazy excitement and hours of drudgework, and driven by ego: Our desire to be the one who figures it out, at least for now. Wow... the fact that you have a vicarious social life through my LJ posts about not having a social life is rather interesting. It's almost a paradox. The world may in fact be ending.

I'm sorry you weren't properly attired for bouncing on inflatable toys. But if you ever want to grab a cup of coffee, lemme know. :)
