I saw Torche open for Jesu, and they were alright. A little poppier than I was expecting.

They are a bit poppy, while also being loud and heavy, but IMO they do it really well. I picked up both of the CDs they had when I saw them open for Jesu, and have been a big fan since. This will be my fourth time seeing them now, and the second time I've gone to see them as the opener for some band I've never heard of.

Their latest album, Meanderthal, was one of my favorite releases of last year (didn't I say I was going to do an lj post with a list of those?). However, if the pop influence is a dealbreaker for you, this album probably won't do as much for you as it did for me.
