I hate my monitor

I need to tell linux "hey, ignore the bogus information my monitor is giving you, I need you to go up to 1680x1050". Any thoughts on how to do this?

I think you just need to add a line in xorg.conf with the resolution you want, right where they list all of the other resolutions.
