The Eyre They Call Jane

Apr 06, 2010 22:34

Not my finest work, but I had the idea and wanted to put it into motion right away.

CHORUS:
An heir to the rich,
She gave to the poor
Betrayed by a man
And accused as a whore
Our spite for her now
Ain't hard to explain
The hero of London
The Eyre they call Jane

Ms Reed saw her niece's back breakin'
She heard the lament of that kid
She even conspired in taken'
Every pound, and leavin' no quid
So she said "I'm a boring heroine"
She said "My friend died of consumption"
But with her teacher's aid
Brocklehurst's debt was paid
And she packed up and left with some gumption

CHORUS

Now here is what make Victorian ladies
'part from interesting folk like you and I
The girl they call Jane
Met Rochester the Plain
And found out he had a crazy wife
She dropped out from Rochesty's house
And into a family's church
The girl they call Jane
Got money, not fame,
Almost left poor R. in the lurch

CHORUS
