I am always rather baffled by the amount of students that believe that they can plagiarize and I simply won't notice. They are literature majors, surely they must realize that every individual has a unique style of writing. I am going to notice when the student who has been writing in chat speak up until now suddenly turns in an A+ paper.

Hmm, and here I was hoping students in Japan wouldn't stoop to that level. I wish I could recall the name of the website some of my professors in America made us submit papers to that checked for plagiarized material.

Oh, I know of a few sites like that. The university has special software to check for it as well.

Ahh, it's been too long. And I think that university students lose their brains somewhere along the way, when overpowered by stress. Plagiarism is unacceptable, but they all get terrified and want to please themselves/their parents.

I'm an assistant professor at Tokyo University. I have hopes to advance to a full professor once I complete my first doctorate.
