I am always rather baffled by the amount of students that believe that they can plagiarize and I simply won't notice. They are literature majors, surely they must realize that every individual has a unique style of writing. I am going to notice when the student who has been writing in chat speak up until now suddenly turns in an A+ paper. ( Read more... )

I worry as well. Any student who reduces himself to plagiarizing has already given up doing their best.

It's been a while, Renji.

Genichirou? This is unexpected, but not unpleasant. It's been quite some time, old friend.

Ah. My nephew convinced me to socialize on the internet.

It's been far too long. I apologize for forgetting to check my email more often.

Technology has never been your strong suit. It is good to see you here, though.

Many thanks for the New Years card, by the way.

Hmm, and here I was hoping students in Japan wouldn't stoop to that level. I wish I could recall the name of the website some of my professors in America made us submit papers to that checked for plagiarized material.

How have you been, by the way? It's been quite a long time since I had a chance to speak to you.

Oh, I know of a few sites like that. The university has special software to check for it as well.

I've been very well, if busy. I apologize for not keeping in proper contact with all my old friends. It appears to be a weakness of mine.

It's quite handy, isn't it?

Never fear, I am hardly the person to hold such a thing against you. After all, I was abysmal at keeping in touch while I was in school in America.

Maintaining contact while studying abroad is exceptionally difficult.

Renji~! You haven't been answering my calls *pouts* Are your students stealing you away from your friends? Do I need to come and stage an intervention?

Ahh, it's been too long. And I think that university students lose their brains somewhere along the way, when overpowered by stress. Plagiarism is unacceptable, but they all get terrified and want to please themselves/their parents.

Ah, Seiichi. I apologize for not maintaining better contact with you. Did you at least receive the New Years card I sent you?

Congratulations on your victory at Wimbledon.

I received it, it was kind of you to remember, Renji. Which university do you teach at, now?

And thank you, I admit, I'm still in shock at the reaction of the crowd to the victory.

I'm an assistant professor at Tokyo University. I have hopes to advance to a full professor once I complete my first doctorate.

Your victory was most impressive. Just what I would expect from you.
