Simon and Garfunkel Concert

So I finally did something that I thought was worth writing about, and also actually sat my lazy ass down to write it. Hence the entry.

Last Sunday Cj & I went to see Simon & Garfunkel at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. On my list of favorite artists, they fall around #4, behind John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, and Sarah McLachlan (all of whom I've ( Read more... )

That's awesome. Kendra really wants to see them, but I don't think they're even coming to Texas, much less Austin.

I think that you and I saw basically the same performance. From my meager memory it sounds like pretty much the same playlist.

I must say that I have never seen a concert like that. It was way more mellow than I have ever seen before. There was no jumping, no fights, little security. And the whole crowd was, for lack of a better word, old. That probably had something to do with it.

Anyway, I loved it. I was especially impressed with the guy that played the cello and the guitar as well as singing the backup vocals (not to mention the digeridoo). Its a rather rare combination of instruments.

As an afterthought, I hope one day to be able to say something was $150 but worth it. For now, I will have to be a poor college student in the top back of the stadium. One day I will get a chance to sell out to corporate America ...

I guess I've been a fan of "old" music all my life, even before I became the old fart I am today.
I think the rowdiest concert I've been to was Billy Joel (which, honestly, wasn't all that rowdy), but am more accustomed to the mellow crowds of Denver and Lightfoot concerts.

Actually, I think Paul sounds great. Everyone goes on about Garfunkel's voice (for good reason), but I personally generally prefer listening to Paul Simon sing.

Your ears tell you true, my friend. Art Garfunkel may have been one of the great pop tenors, but Paul Simon is a musical genius and *killer* performer, who hasn't stopped going in 40 years. I'll take Paul any day.

I agree that it was a great once-in-a-lifetime show. I opted for the less expensive nosebleed seats, but it was still worth it.
