[It's finally day time and the fog has finally disappeared. And like a lot of the other people here sending in relief messages all over the network, Professor Hershel Layton is doing the same.
The camera shakes for a few seconds and there's a horrible muffling sound as the Professor is positioning his gear once again. He really made it a habit to

I'd rather not talk about what I experienced as well, even if it was for a short time.
Though I'm still considered 'new' here, so... hopefully things like this are not commonplace.

I agree. There are somethings that everyone rather not speak about.
Hm, I have only been here for about a month, but according to my apprentice, there was some disaster that occurred shortly before my arrival. I hope this is only a coincidence.
Ah, but you have just arrived here, ma'am? Then you know most of the the beginner knowledge that people have provided you with, correct?
[If not, then the Professor will gladly answer any and all questions! He's quite used to introducing new people to this world now.]

I arrived yesterday. A little over halfway through Route 29 right now, if my map is right.
I've read the stuff that was given to me, yeah. So I'm aware of what to do. I've already caught a Pidgey to travel with me. [The Pidgey in question is seen running after a Hoppip in the background, attempting to peck at its head.]
The Cubone I started with doesn't seem to know any useful moves, so it's been difficult training with it so far.

Ah, that's good to hear. It is always good to another Pokemon partner along the way, and if I remember correctly, it should take about a total of three whole days to reach Cherrygrove City in the shortest time.
Cubone? I am not sure as to what they are or what they look like, but surely it knows some moves to save you in a pinch.

I've been going for about a day and a half, so that sounds right.
Cubone looks like this. [She turns the camera to face her Pokémon starter for a second, before focusing it back on her.] According to my Pokédex thing here, it only knows 'Growl' and 'Tail Whip.' So it's only been able to train by doing something after it's not able to do those two moves anymore. It seems to... struggle with the opponent. But now my Pidgey can assist the training, and apparently soon Cubone will learn a new move.
[Her Pidgey is seen chasing the Hoppip back the other way, running faster to catch up with it.]
Pidgey tends to prefer being out of the Pokéball, so I let it out pretty often.

Haha, yes, quite a lot of bird Pokemon seem to be like that. This Hoothoot I have is quite the same. Always insisting to perch on top of my hat. It is resting in its ball at the moment though.
[The unnamed Duskull is the only Pokemon that is out of its Pokeball and just wanders around the Professor's top hat in circles, occasionally floating right past it. It must be cool being a ghost.]

Ah... thanks.
I should probably introduce myself. The name's Ramona.
[She hopes Pidgey doesn't land on top of her head. Seriously.]

Please, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me at once.
[And with that, the Professor tips his head in greeting.]

Professor? Do you teach something where you come from?

What other jobs would that be, curiously?

For curiosity's sake, may I ask what your career is?

Oh, I'm just a delivery girl right now. Living the simple life and all that. [Hnnnng, for the most part that's the truth. She has her own past she doesn't want to delve into.] Where I come from has its own share of mysteries. You'd probably like it. Have you ever been to Canada?

A delivery girl? That sounds like an interesting job. You do get to go here and there at times, and no, I am afraid I never went to Canada before. I haven't left England at all actually. The boat rides are always so expensive as well.

There's a thing in North America that is called 'Subspace,' and it allows faster travel from place to place via special doors. Not sure where it started, but it's why I'm actually the only delivery girl in my area - they can rely on me since I don't think anyone else around Toronto actually uses Subspace. I've always wondered why. In New York, everyone was using it. It's a huge mystery all its own, to be honest. You could call it another dimension. Of course, that's only scratching the surface of it.
[Wow, she's actually being talkative. Miss Of-Few-Words is actually discussing something. She herself doesn't know why. Perhaps Layton is someone she actually feels comfortable talking to? Not including little kids who she can't resist being nice to.]

That sounds very interesting. Ah, I wish I could see that. I would love to take on this mystery. Thank you very much for telling me, Miss Ramona.
[Oh wait...this technology seems a bit high tech. Maybe he should ask what year that was started...not like he didn't already see super high tech stuff in the 1920s...]
Ah, may I ask what year this "subspace" was first invented?
