Questions like this always throw me...I realise all of a sudden that although I'm constantly reading and love books, it's hard to think of something on the spot.

Of course, being the fan girl that I am I cannot fail to recommend American Gods, followed by Anancy Boys. (I am a sucker for Gaiman, and for Anancy stories.)

Marge Piercy's Woman on the Edge of Time is also kind of interesting.

*wracks brains*

I'm sure something will come to me in the middle of the night in a day or two :)

hmmi read jhumpa lahiri's the namesake on a flight to India and found it wa just the right length (took the journey to read it) and had the right kind of flow (you want to turn the pages, but if sleeps needs to happen, that's ok) for a plane.
see you there!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Anil's Ghost (Ondaatje (sp)) and In The Skin of a Lion is supposed to be great ( ... )

Funny...I was just thinking of recommending Things Fall Apart last night. Bit depressing for a plane trip though, i suppose.
