All tortoises are females. Male cats cannot have that genetic pattern.

Further to my previous assertions about the sex of cats: somebody told me the other day that their ginger cat had kittens! Yes, it surprised them too.

Genetically, about 1 in 400 torties are male, and about 1 in 4 gingers are female.

Do you know what proportion of gingers are females who can have kittens? I had thought ginger females were usually sterile.
