i think moderated posts would be good...just giving your approval before a post appears in the community. i think it would be a faster and more streamlined process.

I agree. That's why I've got that edit up now. :)

But still, thanks for speaking up.

I've become a pretty big fan of Molly Ivins. She's got a sense of humor combined with pragmatic, progressive values.

Another thing you should check out is the latest Frontline Episode. They did a story on the how the president is being marketed. In particular, the Bush campaign did a lot of testing on the emotional content of language. Have you ever noticed how there are so many things which Bush seems to almost be using euphamisms for? For example, "Global Warming" has become "Global Climate Change". The war in Iraq has become "The War on Terror". Tax cuts have become "Tax Relief". The inheritance tax has become "The Death Tax". All the language is chosen to make people feel a certain way about an issue. Even creepier. Frontline is describing how much data is being collected on consumers to figure out how to market to them....

Nice. I'll check this out more when I'm not actually supposed to be doing homework.

And again, this seems well in keeping with the community's theme. Why not make it a post, instead of a comment?

...And hey, you don't seem to be a member. Guess that'd explain the not-posting thing.

But really, you should join. I mean, we do pretty much kick ass here. :-)
