If that's the quote they used, then I agree that it's an oversimplification. You might be interested in hearing the full quote, though. It reads, "Those who would sacrifice essential liberty for a little temporary security are deserving of neither, and will ultimately lose both." Benjamin Franklin said that, and I agree. Given the distinction he draws with regards to essential liberty, I think you might too.

Hope this clarifies the sentiment which (probably) lay behind the poster for you.
