I think the way you feel is pretty common. It's really hard to feel good about yourself if you don't feel good about how you look. Your looks may not be who you are but they affect the way most people feel about themselves. I don't know many people who can knowingly look like shit and be too confident. Don't be too hard on yourself. I believe that as long as you aren't imposing your expectations on anyone else it's not anyone else's concern, accept maybe Priscilla. She is supposed to be concerned about that stuff. Look at it this way, at least you know how to make yourself feel better, some people aren't so lucky.
People always want to know why I'm shy, softspoken, quiet, and have few friends. I guess, I always feel like I look like crap and that may be why. It's a shitty feeling. Maybe you should get dressed as good as you can, take off the glasses and have Priscilla take some pictures. Let her show you how she sees you. Have her describe to you *in a sensitive and non-sexual way* what she sees when she looks at you. That always helps me anyway. Renee doesn't see my zits or my double chin. She sees my eyes and my smile and my button nose. Anyway Amy you are beautiful. :)
it's hard to not be vain when you were raised by a cosmotologist. my mother did her part in a program at the cancer center called "look good, feel better" and i just felt so conflicted about it when i was little... it just didn't make sense to me that if you had your hair, face, or scarf on your head done up right you might feel better about dying... or being seen, or expressing yourself.
i guess i always thought it was the other way around - that you should glow when you feel good inside... but what do i know.
i guess im still pretty conflicted... although lately i've been more lax in terms of glitz.
