i worked for a temp agency a few years ago. bottom line, everyone's out for themselves, so if the agency thinks you're not worth their time, they'll be no help.

go in and tell them you're looking for contract work, don't specify long or short term. if you end up getting what seems like a more long term thing, take it and do it till you get something else you like better. managers and agencies have no problem getting rid of people when it suits them, so just worry about yourself and do what you need to do.
