I hated Oregon, and I'd only been there for a day ( Read more... )

There was a knock at the door and I opened my eyes to see Oz's eyes snapped open as well. "Huh," I said, sitting up in bed, blinking sleepiness out of my eyes. "I'll, um... yeah, I'll get it." It was probably just one of the 'wolves, I figured, as I planned to just wrap myself up in a sheet and hope that was dressed enough. But then, when have the pack ever knocked? They never knocked. Okay, so, clothes it was ( ... )

I was surprised that the woman was just going to let me in. It was enough to make me pause at the door, watching her for a moment. Who just opened the door and knew it was someone worth welcoming like that? I shuddered from cold, and sniffed to keep my nose from dripping. It wasn't until then that it occurred to me that if she was a werewolf, she could smell me. I must have been in the right place, then.

I stepped into the huge house, moving aside so that the red haired woman could close the door behind me. She looked harmless... friendly, even, and vibrating a little with something. Authority? Power? I couldn't tell what it was, but I felt it and I shivered again, even though it was warm inside.

"This is Halen, then?" I knew I sounded rude. I didn't care. I wasn't here by choice (unless the choice was between Halen, killing or getting killed), and I was going to make sure no one forgot it.

"This is Halen, all right," I said, his bitterness seemingly bouncing off my own cheeriness. Well, pal, that's what ya get for talking to someone who had just been with a sex god, yup yup! Okay, talking now. Again discreetly taking in his scent, I smiled and started passed him. "Come with me, there's a nice kitchen upstairs that catches all the sunlight if you're cold. I was making tea."

When we got there, I turned on the stove and moved to face him, hands on my hips and smiling brightly. "So, you a new wolfy? We all have to start somewhere, huh? You got a name? I'm Willow." I stuck out my hand for him to shake. "Hope the trip wasn't too long."

I didn't take her hand, even though something inside me was screaming that I should. Instead I grimaced, ignoring the questions I'd rather not answer. Willow was far too cheerful for me. She was treading dangerously close to cracking my bad mood. "My name's Terry. And do you have to call it a 'wolfy'?"

I blinked at the sudden hostility in his voice, and again, wolfy didn't like that. Being bed-frazzled didn't help with trying to keep human, despite how much it was so worth it. "You're safe here, no one will hurt you," I tried, sounding just a little frustrated, but managing to keep my tone soothing. I hope.

"Listen... there's magicks that help... I'm sorta... no, I am looking into it. How to control the wolf so it's not always botherin' you and stuff." There was the very slight scent of fear - either he was just a little wary or he was covering mighty well. I straightened slightly, trying to gather my full height and all - a bit of an instinct. Happened when you were the mate of the alpha. "You've already changed, but... I can help you be more human. Halen helps with that, I can promise ( ... )

I took the time to get dressed, even though my 'wolf was growling at the thought of my mate with a strange 'wolf. Willow was strong, and smart... as the alpha's mate she had a degree of authority and rushing in to protect her would undermine that. It was still hard, balancing 'wolf and human instincts. Adding the Pack to that just made it more complicated. One thing at time though; kitchen, tea, Willow.

I probably didn't look too impressive, a small guy in well-worn jeans and an old Ziggy Stardust t-shirt. The scent of =fear-anger-frustration= was strong in the room and without thinking I let the 'wolf a little closer to the surface as I came into the kitchen. Stepping up behind Willow I nuzzled her neck. She still smelled of us and that sunshine-y Willow smell that always made me smile.

Turning to the new 'wolf, I held out my hand. "Hey. I'm Oz."

'Be more human.' That probably would have sounded nice, if I wasn't still hung up on the fact that I wasn't human anymore. I might have replied snippily if it would have helped... but then Willow was offering a mug of tea, and I was still feeling cold. So I took it with a weak, "Capice," blowing at the hot liquid before I took a sip ( ... )

The smell of fear, to me, isn't a nice one. It gets wolfy antsy, but I don't like it. Like blood and poison, or something. Nudging Oz in the ribs with my elbow, I glanced at him to turn down the alpha a bit. We were all used to it, welcomed it, but we hadn't had a new wolf around to deal with for a while. Easy to forget how scary this whole ordeal could be.

"Oz is kinda the leader of our lil' group," I said, trying to brighten things up. "You don't have to be scared of him or anything, he won't bite. He's-he's like a big puppy!"
