Dude Court

The case: Lauryn, Liam, Nick, Rob and I are in a car going to Joe's Oktoberfest party. Upon reflection we realize that had Nick's girlfriend, Mayumi, agreed to tag along one of us would not have been able to come along as the car would become over full. In response to this I jokingly said that we would place her in the trunk. Nick, in defense of ( Read more... )

bro=ally, friend, compatriot, etc. in other words, "friends get priority over whomever you might be fucking."
i have oft said to friends of all genders (and i do mean all), "bros before hos."
in my current life situation, ryan would be my "ho," but exes do not count as "hos."
i feel confident in my definition of this phrase. this dude court is now adjourned.

This had been my point exactly. Surprisingly it was the women involved (Lauryn and Karen) who seemed surprisingly "you can't have it both ways" about the situation. Second wave feminism aside, 'bro' in this context to me is a gender neutral term and being grouped in with a cavalcade of said 'bros' does not negate my right to take part in something going under the title 'girl time' or vice versa.

I think the whole affair was just an excuse to hum the theme song to the peoples' court honestly. And, in that way, it's a triumph for all involved.

Therefore, the majority ruling on the urban dictionary, which will heretofor be referred to the Law on which this case is being tried against, says that an individual must be male refering to male friends before females friends/girlfriends, to call the saying "bros before hos ( ... )

exhibit a) with regard to the urban dictionary definition of 'bros before hos': the mere insinuation that any urban slang or vernacular can have any one set definition is ridiculous. Context is everything and, by nature, a phrase such as 'bros before hos' is entirely subject to interpretation. I submit, as previously stated, that a 'bro' can be any friend or ally, regardless of gender especially in the context of a group of people who contain people who do not fit into gender norms or stereotypes to any degree ( ... )
