Radiohead has decided to side step the record industry. On October 10th, they will be releasing a new album digitally, but the important matter is that the cost of the album is whatever you want to pay, even nothing.

Awesome. I've been thinking about trying to release a movie this way.

you'll probably want to use a torrent method for the downloading. but yeah, that would be cool. (otherwise bandwidth usages would be insane) and maybe streaming. With such a large file, you don't want the download failing and people not coming back to finish.

Yeah, I was planning on torrent for download.

A note between the closing scene and the credits:

"This independant feature was released a number of different ways. Or perhaps condiser purchasing a physical DVD, which comes with a full color booklet, and several special features."

I think for a film with as much as a $50k budget, in the right genre (and of the right quality, of course) it could be viable. I'm not so sure it could maintain at Hollywood's scale.
