Someone wants a compromise on abortion? Really?!

The author suggests a compromise on abortion where the pro-life side concedes more freedom for early abortions and the pro-choice side concedes more restriction for late abortions.

I live in England. Abortion law here is that abortion is de facto on demand up until 24 weeks and from them until birth you can only have an abortion if continuing the pregnancy is a severe threat to the mother's physical health or the baby is likely to have a disability. In any case you need two doctors to agree to the abortion and any legal abortion is available for free, but quite a lot of women pay to go privately to avoid waiting lists. All abortions after 24 weeks have to be performed in government hospitals ( ... )

It's sad to see things like "24 weeks" and such as the limit. I was 26 weeks when I was delivered (almost an abortion, though). 19 week old babies have survived when delivered that early... it just boggles my mind that people think it's okay.

While I would love it if we could limit abortions, I am incredibly fearful that a compromise such as this will severely deplete support for the pro-life movement.
