George Tiller was shot to death this morning at his church.Hopefully this is on-topic enough, but I want to know what you all think of this. Obviously it's unfortunate, at least in my opinion, because it goes against what we are all fighting for - the right to life. Even though his death may end up saving thousands, if not hundreds of thousands ( Read more... )

There are very few late-term abortionists in America so I can't imagine it will be easy to find another doctor to go to.

CNN cited Tiller as one of three late-term abortionists in the U.S., but perhaps there are others who are quiet or sneaky in their practice?

I wouldn't be surprised if there are others. After all, even before his murder, Tiller's life had been threatened quite a bit - surely, if I was in that boat, I'd avoid letting word get out too much about it.

Unfortunate doesn't begin to describe what I think about this murder. I mean, let's call a spade a spade. Shooting a human being for ANY reason is heinous, especially in front of his family and community in front of his church. There aren't words strong enough to express my outrage and anger at the pain that his family must be going through.

There is no excuse for violence. Violence is not a remedy for fear, or the proper vehicle to bring about "justice" in a civilized society. We are a people bound by law, and bound by human decency. Both were violated in this horrible act.

Evidently the suspect has been apprehended, so I look forward to finding out who the heck this was and thank God that this person will be brought to justice for the crime he has committed.

My prayers go to the family and friends of Dr. Tiller.

The atrocities seen this morning are heinous. Though the man had a profession that contrasted with our views and our beliefs, murder was never justified. Unfortunately I have suspicions that this cause us as pro-lifer’s to be classified with the monster that committed this crime and we must be sure to separate ourselves from such evil acts and condemn them.

I'm not sorry to see him dead, but I am sorry to see that some person took it upon him/herself to bring it about. Particularly if the murder really was performed in a hypocritical defense of life.

Perhaps it's horrible to even consider the thought, but I can't help but wonder if he was actually murdered by an abortion activist seeking to make pro-lifers look bad. It's an unpleasant thought to entertain, but I've seen the pro-death crowd becoming increasingly hostile, and a small part of me wonders if one of them would go this far for their "cause".

I could see that happening. It will be pretty clear soon enough, considering they've found what they are referring to as a suspect. Unfortunately it'll be next to impossible to get any take on it without some degree of spinning done by the media, but alas...

I am assuming that it was indeed a pro-life individual who thought vigilantism would be something either condoned or merely accepted after the fact, but obviously this isn't the case.

I am always sad to see a life end, even when I don't agree with the path that said life took, but I feel very little personal loss in this case.

It's terrible and tragic, no matter what way you cut it. There is no upside. Plus it just adds fuel to the fire against the right to life.
