At breakfast

I was finished breakfast (at my local diner) this morning and went to the cash to pay when an odd man (sort of scruffy, a bit smelly) came up to me and asked "Were you in love when you came in today?" Meaning schmeaning. It's the rush of thoughts at the "I didn't know what to say ...": am I in love? what does he mean? with myself? do I love myself? do I know? is that an okay answer? do my parents count? no, that's dumb, I'm single, of course I'm not in love, so what? who does this guy think he is? or what about that woman at the coffee shop? of course not, that's just a dumb crush, or the one who I fell for a while back? no, I'm over that; crap; Here's six dollars. Thanks. See you tomorrow. WTF?

One of the quirkiest misinterpretations I've ever heard of comes from "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds."

The lyric phrase "The girl with kaleidoscope eyes" was misheard as "The girl with colitis goes by."
