Older Son's new group, Beta Collide, has a video from their new album, Pssst...Pssst. It's pretty cool: http://vimeo.com/15113848. Older Son is the emphatic trumpeter.
It's cool, isn't it? The girl who screams is actually a pretty awesome flutist, which is usually what she does with this group... There's one track on the album, Echo of a Memory, that I just love. The album is distributed by Naxos - and is available everywhere - iTunes, Amazon etc. *evil grin*
Yeah, it really is. I'm sort of amazed that this is your son. Not sure why...but you must've been a great parent for him to turn out so well! (And I'm not just saying that because he kinda looks like me! But he does sort of look and dress like me...or me like him. Plus, shaved head.) I take it he's a professional trumpeter? I don't know much about horns, but he sounds like he's really good. And really contemporary, musically, which takes a lot of guts. Yeah, totally impressed. Especially that one little part wherein he wryly wipes off the mouthpiece. Hilarious!
Also, I didn't even notice the scream on first listen. It's very musical. I probably blinked too long or something when Molly Barth was in front of the camera, and merely registered it as piano and trumpet blending together, even though, on second listening, I think she's too high for a trumpet...!
Okay, I found them at Amazon...would that song be "Memories of an Echo"? I'm listening to a preview as I type. :)
Indeed. And when it comes to it, not a bad scream, for a flutist. Her fluting is even better, as can be heard on some other tracks on the album - scream-free, sadly. The whole video serves to remind me, yet again, that some people have more fun at work than I do.
