The difference between victims and survivors

In the Coast Guard, we were taught to be very careful about the terminology we used over unsecured radio channels. We were never to report "bodies" or "deceased" or use any words similar to those. Instead, we were to use the word "victim" for someone we found dead, and "survivor" for someone we found alive ( Read more... )
