→ non-innocence
Suffice to say, Kanda is neither a normal human or Exorcist. Because of this, he is able to heal much faster than ordinary humans (ie, an injury that should take 5 months to heal healing in only three days). He is also able to withstand the Akuma's virus due to a secret skill developed by the Chan family, and he is the only Exorcist that is not a parasitic-type to be able to withstand the virus.
Also due to his restorative abilities, he is seen "approximately 580 seconds" after dying, reviving himself. He is also able to reproduce falling limbs and also has abnormal physical strength. How fast or slow his regeneration abilities are solely depends on his life reserve, measured by the mark on his chest (shown). It's shown during his fight with Alma Karma, the more quickly he uses his life force with Mugen, not only does the more powerful become, but the lighter his hair ends up.
It's also to be noted that since Kanda comes back, while his hair has return backed to its original color, it's to be assumed that Kanda no longer possesses his ability to regenerate. In chapter 208, it can be somewhat seen that there are cracks originating from where the mark is on his chest. He furthermore comments after a night of heavy drinking that "this is what it's like to be normal" while enduring a hangover.
It has yet to be seen if consequences after his fight with Alma greatly affects Mugen.
→ innocence
mugen 六幻
Kanda's Innocence. When he was first seen with it, it took the shape of a short blade with several small wings on what served as the hilt. Whenever Kanda is first introduced in canon, it took the form of a traditional chokuto. However, since it broke during his fight with Skinn Bolic, it was reforged into a more traditional Japanese katana. After become what is known as a "Crystal Type" Innocence, it retains its appearance of a traditional katana. Not much is known about the properties and risks being a Crystal Type holds, other than the fact that it uses the user's blood as its weapon. It reacts to the user's emotions much like a parasitic-type's Innocence does, but it in no way alters the user's body. The only visible side-effect of being a Crystal Type that is currently known of is that there are stigmata on the user's body from which their weapon is formed.
For Kanda, his Innocence is only the second to be turned into a Crystal Type that takes the shape of a sword with a red blade.
Bakuhakuzan (Explosive Spirit Slash) • 爆魄斬
In order for this to be used, Kanda needs to active Sangenshiki. When it is used, he makes a slash that creates small explosions and is powerful enough to cut through a Level 4.
Consume, Mugen
Used when and only if Mugen is broken. Using its energy, Mugen is reconstructed briefly in order to deliver a single slash.
Hakka Tourou (Eight Flowers Praying Mantis) • 八花蟷螂
While using nigentou, Kanda rapidly slashes the enemy eight times. The form it takes resembles a flower, hence the name.
Kaichuu · Ichigen (Hell's Insects: First Illusion) • 界蟲「一幻」
Very basic. Once activated, Kanda swings his sword and releases several illusionary creatures to devour and destroy his opponents. (Also used to purposefully piss off his fellow Exorcists when necessary.)
Nigentou (Double Illusion Blades) • 二幻刀
Kanda covers both sword and scabbard (or, if not scabbard, then pure energy) to create two impossibly sharp blades using a coat of energy.
Sangenshiki (Three Illusions) • 禁忌 「三幻式」
Deemed "taboo" by Komui, because this uses some of Kanda's life energy in exchange for drastically increasing both his speed and strength.
Shouka (Sublimate) • 昇華
Kanda taps in to the power of his tattoo using this. When activated, Kanda's pupils change into three dots, and veins also rise around his eyes.
