History:
Miharu's past is set during the time of "ten years ago", in accordance to the beginning of the series. This is a significant detail because nobody can remember what happened at that time, except for a close family friend of the Rokujos, Thobari Kumohira. Throughout the series, only tiny bits of Miharu's childhood have been leaked; it is known that his mother, Asahi Rokujo, made a terrible mistake, and that somehow, Miharu came into possession of the special technique known as the "Shinrabanshou" -- literally meaning "all things in nature" -- which held the power to grant any wish of the user, should they learn to control it. Kumohira apparently killed Miharu's family then, and many others in a desperate attempt to protect the child. What happens from there is, thus far, unknown.

Fourteen, attending Banten Middle School and living with his grandparents, Miharu Rokujo had been living a perfectly normal, oblivious life since the incident when he was four. Naturally, things didn't stay that way for long; his classmate, Kouichi Aizawa, and his English teacher, Kumohira Thobari (:O!!!), began to pester him to join the newly formed 'Nindo Club'. Despite their insistences that he should join because he was in danger, Miharu refused and continued to lead his normal life.

For a few days.

He encountered Kouichi on his way home one day, surrounded by strange men; he was attacked from behind, then, and he and Kouichi were forced to battle briefly, during which Miharu became panicked, and the Shinrabanshou began to leak out. While it spoke to him, and tried to convince him to make a wish, nature went abso-fucking-lutely haywire and nearly killed everybody. Kouichi tried to seal part of the Shinrabanshou into a sword, but that made everything worse, and finally, Kumohira showed up and fixed everything. Miharu then proceeded to pass out.

When he woke up, the basics of ninjas and the Shinrabanshou were explained to him, but once again, Miharu simply left, acting apathetic. He was attacked once more by the men from earlier, now seeking revenge for the injuries he had inflicted upon them. Thankfully, Kumohira was smart enough to follow Miharu, and saved him again, then yelled at him some for being such a retard. Miharu again left, but this time, he had resigned himself to joining the Nindo Club; indifferent lifestyle or not, he really didn't want to die. Thus, he became a ninja.

Things continued with him, Kouichi and Kumohira training in the Nindo Club, and it was only briefly interrupted by the dropping-in of Raimei Shimizu, a samurai looking to kill her brother for murdering her clan. She befriended Miharu quickly, and dragged him and the team off to the village of Fuuma, where they were supposed to meet a really mysterious, wise guy.

When they got there, things weren't really going all that well. People were dead left and right, and in the middle of the village was a group from Kairoushuu -- a group looking to use the Shinrabanshou for their own 'perfect world'. There, Miharu met Yoite, a user of the double-edged technique 'Kira' (which shot the user's life energy into a person's body, controlled it from the inside, forcing it to twist and explode from the inside-out, but also whittled away the user's senses and life). He seemed insignificant at the time -- apart from nearly killing all of Miharu's friends etc. etc. -- but he soon become a vital character, just wait.

So, Miharu and co. met Kotarou Fuuma, leader of the village and professional mysterious, wise guy who saved them all from Yoite by shooing away Kairoushuu. He went on some more about the Shinrabanshou, and said that he would begin devising a plan to extract it from Miharu if they could gather him the Kinjutsusho from the other villages -- unfortunately, Kairoushuu was also after them, so it became something of a race.

Shortly after returning home to Banten, Miharu was dragged off by Yoite suddenly to his magical abandoned shack of wonders, and it was there that Yoite told Miharu that if he did not agree to grant his wish once he learned to control the Shinrabanshou, then he would kill all of his friends. Yoite's wish was simple, if bizarre; he wished that he had never existed, and wanted Miharu to thus erase his existence from the world. Miharu was a smart little cookie and agreed, forming the beginning of what would later be an immesurably deep bond between the two of them.

Then lots of stuff happened involving trying to obtain a Kinjutsusho and a mind-reader lady, where Yoite and Miharu helped each other out secretly and started to grow closer, and Kumohira started to get kind of suspicious. In the end, Kotarou Fuuma got the Kinjutsushou, and Raimei had left the team in search of her brother Raikou.

Miharu stayed with Kumohira then, while his grandparents were away, and they argued a lot about Yoite, leading to Miharu revealing his plan to use the Shinrabanshou to 'save' Yoite, and Kumohira saying that he would kill Miharu if he ever tried to use it. Thankfully, their conversation was cut short by Kumohira's girlfriend returning home -- with a near-unconscious Yoite in tow.

Right under Kumohira's nose, Miharu and Yoite then decided that the best way to obtain the other Kinjutsusho and allow Miharu to grant Yoite's wish would be for Miharu to join the Kairoushuu -- and so, shortly after, he ran away from Banten and was welcomed by the Kairoushuu; because honestly, the boy seemed determined to be part of them, didn't seem to be planning anything, and hell, he was what they had been trying to get all along. They were all too happy to take him in.

Miharu, Yoite, Yoite's guardian Yukimi and Raimei's now-forgiven brother Raikou were soon sent on a mission to retrieve the next Kinjutsushou from the village Kouga, in a school known as Alya Academy. There, Miharu and Yoite continued to grow closer still, and when they were attacked by the students in a huge confusion and betrayal mix, there was a turning point in their relationship; Yoite, after continuing to desperately protect Miharu, ended up severely injured, and admitted to Miharu that he did not want to die. Once Yoite collapsed, Miharu snapped, and the Shinrabanshou was once again leaked out, for Yoite's sake. Kumohira fortunately managed to beat Miharu back to normal, and Yoite's wounds had been closed with the Shinrabanshou's small amount of power.

Things seemed just fine after that, especially once Yoite had woken up; everything continued as normal. Until Kumohira disappeared, and with him, their main lead on the whereabouts of the last Kinjutsushou. After that, Miharu was taken from Yukimi's custody by order of Kairoushuu's leader, Hattori, in order to try and make everyone work harder, but Yoite refused to be seperated, and disobeyed orders to go and find Miharu. He ended up at where Hattori was staying, where he was currently trying to convince Miharu that there was no point in granting Yoite's wish. After a furious argument, Miharu and Yoite turned on Hattori, but were forced to flee after a battle with elite ninja he had hired.

And this left them between a rock and a hard place. They had made enemies with the leader of the Kairoushuu, and were left without any idea of what to do, so they went into hiding while Miharu sorted out how they could get back to Banten. After a battle and a few failed attempts, they made it back -- and, on the way, with the added bonus of Miharu confessing that he wanted Yoite to live, and for them to stay together. Finally, they made it back, and tried to sneak into Hanabusa's (Kumohira's girlfriend) house unnoticed, but she caught them and convinced them to stay the night.

In the middle of the night, after Miharu got upset with Yoite and stormed outside, he was kidnapped by the elite ninja Hattori had hired, and from there, it all went downhill. After Gau and Raikou helped Miharu to escape, he met up with Yoite again -- but Yoite, his foot having disintergrated, was barely able to walk, much less protect either of them. Yukimi saved them from the elites, and Miharu dragged Yoite away to safety, not knowing the bad turn Yukimi's situation would take once he left.

They collapsed in the snow to rest, where they had an absolutely adorable, touching, heart-breaking moment, with Yoite on the verge of death and Miharu dismissing it at the time so that he could focus on being happy at that moment.

And then Yoite vanished.

Miharu then entered a trance-like state, where the Shinrabanshou hinted to him at what had happened -- "It didn't happen in time, but it ended up like you wanted, huh." -- and he woke up in his bed with no recollection of the boy known as Yoite, a whole month after the incident, with Kouichi beside his bed, who proceeded to announce to Miharu that he was now the King of Nabari. Miharu panicked over not being able to remember what it was he had done a month ago, only knowing that several people had threatened his death for it.

He went home with Yukimi's sister Kazuho after trying to visit Yukimi in the hospital, and was greeted by a cat upon seeing Yukimi -- a tiny, black kitten that had been abandoned, given the name "Yoite", and all of a sudden, he remembered what it was he had done; "I erased a person." He couldn't handle the mental stress and pain of not being able to recall more than that, and collapsed.

From there, talking with Yukimi, he began to remember, little bits and pieces -- he could recall that he didn't want to erase that person, and that he had wanted to live together with them; but also that if they had died and he had still remembered them, he wouldn't have been able to live. But, suddenly overcome with loneliness, the conversation did worse more than it did good, and Miharu broke down in tears.

Everyone met up again with the now-returned Kumohira to discuss the best way to go about disposing of the Shinrabanshou, now that Miharu no longer wanted to use it. Not much significant or worth mentioned happened related to Miharu, except that Kumohira promised to explain what had happened ten years ago that nobody else could remember -- which would mean the death of Miharu's parents.

So, while they planned, Miharu spent days and nights plagued with the grief of his missing memories and the desire to meet "that person". In the mean time, in an attempt to lighten the heaviness on Miharu's shoulders, Yukimi took him in as an "assistant" of sorts, and so Miharu became the photographer for the freelance writer. They went to interview Hanabusa while she was leading a field trip, and as they were leaving, she managed to begin triggering more of Miharu's missing memories, but finally, Yukimi managed to convince Miharu to let go of the lingering want to meet "that person", and Miharu's life continued better than he could recall -- he became happy, and social, for the first time since he had been with Yoite.

Personality:
Miharu's most primary personality trait is the thing that he is well-known for in the series: his indifference. It extends further than just being aloof, or apathetic, or even just a lack of empathy; Miharu does his best to make it seem as though he just does not care about anything. He brushes serious, life-threatening situations off as though they were lint on his jacket, and does so with no flaw in his perfectly blank, masked expression. He seems to have developed it as a survival technique, because he was tired of emotional trauma and hurt -- however, due to the extreme lengths of it and the amount of time he forced himself to appear like that, it's become a permanent and major part of his character.

It should be noted, though, that it does not remain a permanent state for him; over time, due to the encouragement and love of his friends, especially Hana -- Kumohira's girlfriend -- he becomes less "dead" and the blankness somehow still manages to come out as more of a personality than a "shutting everyone out" manouveur. The biggest character to play a role in his development, however, is Yoite, who means more to Miharu than anything else; he is the first to point out the subtle changes in Miharu's personality, to which Miharu replies, "Or maybe it's only when I'm thinking about Yoite things," which is entirely true at that point -- he only regains some sign of being lively when there is something involving Yoite. This is a surefire indicator of just how damn much Yoite means to him, which is really really impossible to express in words.
Miharu seems to enjoy manipulating people, although it simply began as a way to get himself through life easier, without anybody to trouble him. He has two main methods of manipulation that commonly appear: his demon side, and his moe side.

His moe side is undoubtedly his favourite; due to his already cute, tiny appearance, he will pout, or cry, and speak in a very childish manner to get what he wants. It either guilts the person into doing as he wishes, or distracts them with his cuteness so that they become much easier to twist around his finger, and almost always works. He really has no problem using it in any situation -- to win a basketball game, to get an amazing discount on expensive items, or even to escape from explaining a serious matter of betrayal and to protect his enemy.

His demon side is used less, but the idea of it is that he scares the person into doing as he wants, or acts devilish in order to get them to admit to something.

However, despite initial appearances, Miharu is not all that uncaring; he will not act indifferent towards someone who is hurt in any way, or who is being kind and caring towards him. He won't even try to manipulate them either, especially if they're a stranger to him -- someone who is kind towards him but is a friend of his is still liable to manipulation, such as Kumohira (although, even he tends to get a break if he is being truly serious and concerned for Miharu, and the situation does not involve Yoite). He also tends to have a weakness for animals of any kind, and frail people, whether they be that way from illness or old/very young age.

It is stated once that, to Miharu, the greatest misfortune would probably be to have someone cry over his death, and that is entirely true; he does not want anyone to suffer because of him in any way, whether it be through physical or emotional pain. For the sake of his friends, although with the excuse to himself and to Yoite that it was easier that way and that it "seemed like the best option", he allied himself with possibly his most dangerous enemy at the time -- Yoite -- and promised to eventually fulfill his wish of being erased from existence.

Miharu is also very thoughtful sometimes, spouting words of wisdom (which he always credits his grandmother for, in order to take away the sentimentality of him saying it). When a person is his friend, he tends not to like to see them get upset over him, and will say ridiculous, out of character things to make them return to their normal selves -- however, immediately after, he usually reverts to his devilish self and mocks them.

When a situation becomes too emotional for Miharu to handle, his indifferent mask cracks and shatters completely, and he becomes entirely lost; he panics, and cries, and screams. It takes some time to repair himself emotionally afterwards, but he will then try to distance himself from any of his friends who may have been involved in the incident -- or, sometimes, even if they weren't.

In fact, somewhere in the deepest parts of his mind, where the Shinrabanshou's jutsu can be seen wrapped around him, Miharu is constantly a broken, lost child. When his mind was read by a Kinjutsu, it was revealed that his inner most prominent thought was, "I need more love!" However, on the surface, he still thinks in the same apathetic way, putting his normal, easy way of going through life above absolutely everything else.

Other:
He is a moe ninja. What else is there to say?

But, really, I'll take this space to note that I won't be restarting his memories of DDD, and he'll be coming from around Chapter 12 (out of 57, so, very early in canon); I'll be moving him through the series at a random pace. ♥

First Person (entry type): Ah, it's this annoying kind of place again. It let me leave last time, but I guess I'm stuck here again. Pain~ful. You guys have to do my English homework, then, to make up for it.

Also, answer my question. If it's not right, you get a penalty and you have to buy me ice-cream.

How do you make someone talk to you? It's a girl. I can't see her in person, and she won't respond to me.

If you can't help, don't talk to me. It's pointless.

I wonder how much time Yoite has left. Two months, Kumohira-sensei said. We don't have much time. But if I want to help him--

It doesn't matter. I'll do it. It's a promise.

Third Person:

The few precious hours that Miharu could manage to get alone these days were becoming rarer and rarer, what with the sudden appearance of Kairoushuu, the dangerous power of Yoite and the injuries everyone had sustained in their last battle; everyone seemed determined to keep a stiflingly close watch on him, and it was getting increasingly harder to slip away from it all.

But he managed.

Shiratama had followed him to school that day, and so he had effortlessly skipped attending his English class to sneak out onto the roof of the with the cat, letting her curl up on his stomach while he stretched out under the sun lazily, waiting.

He wasn't entirely sure what he was waiting for, but it wasn't of much concern to him. Something would happen sooner or later; that was all he knew, and that was enough for him.

"Rokujo!"

Miharu recognised the voice. Kumohira, who had no doubt abandoned the lesson -- the one he was supposed to be attending at that moment -- in order to find him; at this point, probably to give him a scolding and a long lecture that he wouldn't care to hear, too.

He didn't respond to the calls, simply stretched his arms out and yawned widely. Shiratama mimicked his actions with a quiet mewl.

"Miharuuuuu! Come on, I want to train after school, too! Kouichi's useless for training, so c'moooon!"

"H-hey! You already beat me yesterday, it's not my fault--!"

And again. Raimei and Kouichi, probably both dragged from class to help search for him -- to force him to 'Nindo Club' practice that afternoon, too, by the sounds of things.

But it didn't matter. Not training, not Kairoushuu, not granting all of the world's stupid wishes, because they were all so selfish--

But then, mused Miharu through another yawn. I'm selfish too.

"Doesn't matter," he drawled out loud, to combat those thoughts. Shiratama purred a lazy agreement, and he scratched a spot just behind her ear with an absent, affection smile.

It may have, in all honesty. It might have mattered that he was being hunted, that his friends, his family, were constantly in danger now; that he had and would probably continue to sneak around behind his friends' backs and ally himself with their most dangerous enemy.

But he wouldn't think of it. Not now. Not ever, maybe; he wouldn't trouble himself with things like that in his precious 'alone time', and really, even surrounded by people, he was always in that kind of state. Something detached and unreachable. So it was fine. He just... wouldn't.

"Miharu."

He recognised that voice, too.

It didn't startle him, and he didn't jump; he stiffened, just slightly, just for a moment, before he relaxed again, bundled up Shiratama in his arms and sat up. His back gave a crack as he stretched it and he winced, craned his neck to look over his shoulder at the boy waiting behind him.

"Yoite," he greeted quietly, shifting his cat into one arm and giving a two-fingered wave with his now-free hand.

The Kira-user nodded wordlessly and made a vague gesture for Miharu to follow him before he turned and began to walk away.

The others -- his friends -- were still calling for him down below, but Miharu stood and trailed along behind Yoite despite, Shiratama draping herself across his shoulders. He petted her absently and followed Yoite to the emergency escape route silently.

And it still didn't matter.

Things were just easier this way, that was all.
