This [Background] The story starts when the Phantomhive manor is burnt to the ground one day, with the Phantomhive family inside. Lord Vincent and his wife Lady Rachel are killed in the fire and their son, Ciel, goes missing. He turns up a year later, a completely different person and accompanied by a butler in black. Though this butler is not your average butler. In addition to performing regular household tasks in the most perfect way possible he can also run faster than a car, catch bullets, and turn everyday utensils into weapons of death and destruction. This butler is a demon. A demon bound by Faustian contract to Ciel Phantomhive in exchange for the boy’s soul. He does whatever he is ordered to and tends to carry out his tasks flawlessly, whatever they may be.
Ciel, being the head of the Phantomhive family, not only runs a toy manufacturing company known as Funtom, but has also taken up another duty bestowed upon him due to his lineage. He is know as the Queen’s Watchdog, carrying out a myriad of tasks given to him by the Queen Victoria to help clear England of crime and filth. Being the Queen's Watchdog, Ciel has a duty to fulfill and utilizes every one of Sebastian's capabilities, making them somewhat akin to a Batman and Robin of the 19th century. If Batman were a 12-year-old brat and Robin did all the work. After dealing with a minor problem concerning the kidnapping of Ciel by the mafia, Ciel and Sebastian are summoned to London, where a violent serial killer has been targeting prostitutes. The press has named this serial killer, Jack the Ripper.
Sebastian and Ciel enter the London estate only to find it being rummaged through by Lau, Ciel’s aunt Madame Red, and her useless butler Grell Sutcliff. Apparently the three came for a visit, but after discussing current events they seem to want in on the case Ciel was sent to solve. After narrowing down the search criteria with Madame Red and Lau, Ciel has Sebastian carry out an investigation to find the most likely suspect for the murders. Sebastian finishes the task at inhuman speed and concludes that one Viscount Druit fits the description and is the most suspicious. The four of them go undercover (with Ciel in drag) and attend the Viscount’s last gala of the season. Once there Sebastian acts as a protector and a distraction, saving Ciel from being revealed by his fiancée Elizabeth and performing an impromptu magic show, giving Ciel enough to time to convince the Viscount to take him somewhere away from the party. Ciel is gassed and upon awakening to find a black market auction taking place and enough evidence to satisfy him, he summons Sebastian, who promptly arrives to knock out everyone in the room and save the day. Sebastian frees Ciel from his bonds and whisks him away from the gala just as the Scotland Yard arrives on scene.
Despite the effort put into catching the Viscount the group reads the paper the next day to find that another murder has occurred. This one having happened during the debacle at the party, meaning that they had succeeded in doing nothing more than capturing the wrong suspect. While going over the investigation results once more and a realization made by Ciel, Sebastian reveals that a human would be incapable of committing the murders. Ciel reacts with anger, having not been told this beforehand but Sebastian assures him that he never lied and only did what he was told. They once again go through the evidence and narrow down the suspects.
Afterwards, the two of them wait outside the only path to the room of the next expected victim, hoping to catch the killer in the act of trying to enter. However, they are merely treated to a scream of anguish as the girl is murdered in her quarters, despite them having never seen another person the entire time. After Ciel rushes into the room, and Sebastian subsequently drags him away from the gruesome scene, none other than Grell Sutcliff emerges from the room, covered in blood. At first denying his involvement in the killing, Grell eventually confesses, and transforms himself from a helpless butler into a flamboyant Death God. After Sebastian’s questioning and mocking, Grell finally reveals that he was captivated by a special woman, and Madame Red herself emerges from the room, making up the remaining of half of the team that was Jack the Ripper. Ciel orders Sebastian to capture them and he obliges, engaging in combat with Grell. The fight consists mostly of Sebastian dodging the maniacal swings of Grell’s Death Scythe, which has been modified into a chainsaw, and he is eventually pinned against the wall. During the battle Madame Red goes to stab Ciel, prompting Sebastian to rush to his aid and resulting in his arm being cut by Grell. He is ordered not to harm Madame Red and stops his actions, but due to her hesitation and show of weakness, Grell kills her anyway. After peeping at her memories and stealing the bloody, red coat off her lifeless body, Grell turns to make his flamboyant exit.
It is then that Ciel reminds Sebastian that only one half of Jack the Ripper was taken down, and orders him to finish the other. Sebastian once again does battle with Grell and even though Sebastian is putting his all into ending the Death God’s life, Grell manages to one up him and cut him across the chest. The action does little more than display some rather boring memories involving everyday work for the Phantomhive estate and convince Sebastian that his treasured coat was now beyond repair. Sebastian removes the coat and during a dramatic charge uses it to jam Grell’s chainsaw, rendering it useless. After lamenting the loss of his coat, Sebastian proceeds to then beat the crap out of Grell, taking care to direct most of his hits towards the man’s face. The act does not kill him and Sebastian decides upon the use of Grell’s beloved chainsaw to help finish the job. Before Sebastian can behead the beaten redhead, a Death God, one William T. Spears of the Dispatch Management Division, arrives and interferes. After dispatching more pain upon Grell, the Death God gives Sebastian his card, bad mouths him, and then drags Grell away by his hair (those Death Gods sure are nice folks). Sebastian presents an apology to his master for failing to kill Grell, and the two return home. After taking Ciel to attend Madame Red’s funeral the two speak in the cemetery and Sebastian teases Ciel, questioning his actions and accusing him of cowardice for not killing his aunt despite having a gun. Ciel retorts that it is Sebastian’s job to protect him and he shouldn’t have to lift a finger to do it himself. He gives Sebastian the order to never betray him or leave his side, and Sebastian vows to follow it.
[Personality] Sebastian regularly demonstrates a very hospitable demeanor, acting just as a butler of nobility would be expected to act. He addresses people formally and follows orders without question. He is humble, polite, and almost always smiles, no matter whom he is speaking to. But underneath that charming smile and those impeccable manners is vindictive hell spawn. That polished disposition is the reason why, even when he insults someone, his harmful words are delivered in a polite tone, and he remains nonchalant. He is a true butler, through and through, maintaining a constant image of perfection, and acting in such a way that would please his master.
Due to the contract he holds with Ciel he will do anything needed to complete his duties and fulfill his side of the deal. He isn’t above using dirty tactics and will mercilessly attack an opponent’s weakness once he finds it. He’s been known to use charm, talent, wit, and the occasional sexual act to see things through because he knows that carrying out his orders loyally leads to the inevitable collection of Ciel’s soul. So, for Sebastian the ends justify the means. That’s not to say that he doesn’t enjoy the means as well.
Being a demon Sebastian hardly harbors any emotions but it would be incorrect in saying he’s completely devoid of them. He adores all types of felines because of their absence in his home world, he berates and chastises people when they irritate him, and the reactions he provokes out of Ciel generally amuse him. He often remarks that he doesn’t understand humans or the way they think, and he never denies it when he’s accused of tormenting them for his own enjoyment. There is no doubt that he harbors intense feelings of anger against some people and the entertainment he gets out of toying with them is also apparent when he pushes the boundaries of his contract by goading and insulting Ciel on various occasions. Though despite these interests and feelings he has been shown to possess rather large amounts of patience and hardly, if ever, breaks his façade of tranquility.
[Specialties/Abilities] Though his skills as a butler tend to reign supreme, Sebastian also possesses inhuman speed, agility, and strength. He’s basically invulnerable to attacks that would instantly kill a normal person, though I’m sure it’s not impossible to kill him. Since he is a manipulative demon he is also rather intelligent, being able to find and target an enemy’s weakness with little effort.
[Affection] Anything goes I suppose. He won't particularly enjoy any of it but that's why it's fun.
[Fighting] He is an excellent fighter but can be bested. Though chances are he'll recover and then kick ass so. IDK I DIDN'T REALLY THINK ABOUT IT.
[Other Facts] Aversion to churches and most likely other religious things. ADORES CATS. I'm sure he has no qualms about catnapping. So, you know, hide your cats.
