It was foolish nonsense, he knew. What was past was past, and what would be would be, and he should damned well make what he could of the present, as always. And yet he could not shake his discomfort.
Having spent the last few days mostly on his own (an easy thing to do, he found, when everyone he knew seemed so intent on mingling), he looked up, somewhat startled, as Kennedy came into the wikiup. "Hullo yourself," he replied, but offered little other greeting.

But brooding about William brooding was just going to result in more brooding. The thing to do would probably be converse even if he wasn't sure whether the other man was going to grunt or converse right back.
He smiled slightly. "You were right about the compound. But... I found books and then Horatio found me so it wasn't too painful."

Archie wasn't looking forward to that at all but books had to be returned and he did want to check on Samantha if nothing else.
He laughed. "Oh, if only you knew the half of it."
He hoped William might manage to be slightly curious but if not he did at least have to show him the CD player.
