"Come, there's no use in crying like that!" said Alice to herself, rather sharply; "I advise you to leave off this minute!" She generally gave herself very good advice, (though she very seldom followed it), and sometimes she scolded herself so severely as to bring tears into her eyes; and once she remembered trying to box her own ears for having cheated herself in a game of croquet she was playing against herself, for this curious child was very fond of pretending to be two people. "But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend to be two people!
Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"
Name: Cassia Imogen Wyndham-Frost
Nickname(s): Cass
Age: Twenty-three
Date of Birth: May 4, 1984
Hometown: San Francisco, California
Location: Irvine, California. Currently rooming with Bianca Bredoteau.
Occupation: Social Worker, Children's Center, St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, CA
E-Mail: cwynd@gmail.com
Tale: Alice from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
Ability: None, besides extreme curiosity.
Relation to Tale: Being a modern tale, Cassia has quite a strong connection with her tale. She's insatiably curious, almost to the point where it gets her in trouble, just as Alice let her curiosity often get the best of her and it ended with her getting into a spot of trouble. She relies heavily on others to help her out, even if she doesn't want to. Proper and rather logical, Cassia always makes sure she has the best of manners and was raised by her adoptive parents to overthink everything. Cassia can be quite pedantic when she wants to be, becoming overly obsessed with precision and formalism, though her parents just thought she had a rather strange case of OCD.
Tale Status: It's really no secret that she's Alice. Pretty much everyone knows.
Personality: Humble and hard-working, Cassia is your typical nice girl. She sweet, kind and loving and even looks so with her captivating blue eyes and doll-like face. She's the type of person who will lend you a helping hand. If you're sick, she'll come take care of you with no expectations of getting anything in return. She's a rather selfless person and tends to be extremely sensitive, but doesn't like people knowing that. She can be made to cry rather easily. Cassia as a young child often cried over dead animals and still cries in sad movies or over the romantic parts. She doesn't know how many times she's heard snickers as she openly bawled at a movie theatre, so she tries to keep that in check. She's very driven and works hard for her goals.
The one thing you have to understand about Cassia is that she's completely curious, almost to the point where it's insatiable. She's naive to a fault and her curiosity is rather overpowering. She'll let her curiosity get to the best of her and often, she ends up in a spot of trouble. She relies heavily on the help of others though, just as Alice did in the book, even though she didn't want to. She often finds herself in situations that are quite out of her element. She was raised in a proper environment where manners were everything and she has her adopted parents to thank for this because she fears she would be rather lost without her manners. Politeness is everything to her. She's also quite logical and pedantic, which got her rather far in school but her occasional pedanticness is quite frustrating for some people and she was diagnosed with OCD at a young age, taking pills for it. It's not a strong case, but it's a mild one. She's constantly cleaning, straighting things up, making everything look presentable and half the time, she doesn't even know what she's doing. She can have quite a temper when she wants to, especially when things don't exactly go her way. She's known to have a temper tantrum or two, even at the age of 23, but she doesn't really like to fight with people. She prefers keeping the peace, but will fight if she has too. Cassia is the type of person who likes to see the good in people, even the worst characters. For this, she tends to get herself in trouble and often ends up as the typical damsel in distress.
Despite all this, she's quite friendly. She is a social butterfly, and is constantly talking to people, which is of course, part of her job. She has absolutely no problem talking to complete strangers. She's a very good conversationalist and can think up loads of things to keep the conversational ball rolling. Because of that, she's always found herself surrounded by friends. Despite not being the goofball or the rich girl who has everything, she holds attention in her own way. She can be very intriguing person to talk to and she's a lot deeper then people tend to think she is. She opens up very easily and that tends to draw people closer to her. The blonde happens to be a very good listener and apparently gives good advice (but never seems to follow her own). Because of her strong connection with Alice, she's a bit childish at heart. While she's always been a mature person, from about the age of 7 and on, she still tries to cling to her inner child. She loves cartoons and Disney movies, while her room is still littered with a large amount of stuffed animals. It's not that she acts childish, but it's her naivety that makes her seem a tad bit childish. It's rather innocent.
Men. Don't even get her started on the male species. Cassia doesn't even think she knows how to flirt and let's not even mention her very few number of relationships. She's completely oblivious to male advances and they basically have to be literal with her or do something drastic like kiss her. She's not very good with subtlety to be honest and she finds that her crushes usually already know she likes them before she can even tell them. When she's interested, she's overly nice and does things that are a little out of the ordinary, such as bake for them. Her cooking, but more her baking, has been praised as being quite excellent. She figures that she got that trait from her mum. Her mum always knew how to whip up something quick with whatever she had and Cassia seems to have inherited that ability, though she's completely unathletic so she didn't get any of those genes from her dad. She doesn't really like to talk about her dad and the few people she's told are shocked when they find out that her dad is actually rather famous. He's the kind of guy who is friends with people like Colby Jones, David Beckham, and TomKat. She prays she won't run into him because she apparently is a carbon copy of him and she's frightened someone will ask her if she's related to him.
Overall, she's a generally calm, nice sort of person who can be quite bubbly and extremely optimistic. Her sensitivity makes her more susceptible to getting upset and once she's angry with you, she's prone to tell people off in the most proper and quiet way you will ever hear. She's been told she makes people feel like SHIT with the way she tells people off because she never yells. She feels like yelling is ineffective in getting one's point across though she occasionally does raise her voice and feels bad afterwards. But in the end, she forgives and forgets very easily and always wants to talk out her problems.
Father: Theodore Blake
Mother: Janae Wyndham
Adopted Parents: Samuel and Laynie Frost
Siblings: None
History: Cassia Imogen Wyndham was born into quite unfortunate circumstances. Born out of wedlock, Cassia was an unwanted baby. Her mother, Janae Wyndham, was a talented chef with big dreams and big expectations when her boyfriend of two years and Cassia's father, Theodore Blake, did the unfortunate and "knocked her up" to put into not so nice terms. The news that a baby was on the way was not what the soccer star wanted to hear and so he left, running off to continue and enjoy a successful professional soccer career, palying for a professional team in England with fame, fortune, and most of all, a slew of new girlfriends.
The birth of a baby was just what Janae needed to bring her career to a crashing halt (not that it had even had a chance to get off the ground), along with the complete loss of her friends and family. How could she travel the world and cook with a baby on her hip? So with a heavy heart, she accepted this new responsibility. She had to completely rearrange her life to take care of Cassia. The young mother dropped out of culinary school and got a small apartment somewhere in a bad part of the San Fernando Valley (the only place she could afford it), located in Los Angeles, California and this is where Cassia grew up, mostly independent and on her own. Janae spent days and most of her evenings working her three or four jobs to pay for their apartment's rent and pay for day-care for Cassia.
When Cassia was finally old enough to attend school, her mother dumped her in public school, leaving her on her own to get there, considering they couldn't even afford a car. Janae's waitressing jobs were barely paying the rent and Cassia's poor mother was slowly spiraling into financial depression and starting to get desperate. She took to doing drugs around Cassia and coming home drunk after work, often disappearing in the evening and going out to drug parties where she could get drugs for free. Without Cassia's consent or knowledge, Janae took with her the last of her dignity and turned to prostitution. One day, coming home from school, Cassia walked in on her mother with a strange man on top of her. Cassia screamed and tried to get the man off of her. Instead he pushed her away, insisting that he was going to get his "five-hundred's worth." It was with a sick feeling in her stomach that Cassia crawled out of her mother's room that night, knowing that she couldn't ever look at her mother in the same way again. She was young and couldn't understand the great lengths her mother was taking in order to keep the two of them afloat.
After an accidental outburst to her teacher about her mother's means of supporting them, her fifth grade teacher ended up reporting this, causing Cassia at the age of 10 to be taken away from her mother and deposited into the system, somewhere not so nice. No one wanted a fully grown kid. Most people were adopting babies, not 10-year old girls, so she spent a year moving around foster homes. She wasn't a bad child, more a quiet one and everyone seemed to want to take her under their wings. Her future finally began to look a little brighter when a kind-hearted old couple began to take interest in her. They were intrigued by the bright happy child and how her unpleasant childhood hadn't seemed to affect her as a person. And so, after a while, they finally decided to adopt her. They couldn't have taken in a more willing, happy and humble person as they did when they took in Cassia Wyndham. It was with some regret that they asked her to change her last name, though out of loyalty to her birth mother, she changed it to Wyndham-Frost when she was legal.
Cassia was hard-working, dedicated and extremely intelligent and her newly adopted parents, Samuel and Laynie Frost, could see what a bright future she had. Taking her back to their lavish home in the Bay area (San Francisco), she was provided with the best of educations and the humble girl took advantage of each and every opportunity she was presented with. In turn, she was rewarded for her hard work. A star pupil, she was honor roll from middle school all the way through high school and was one of the three valedictorians at her high school graduation. She was never much of a bragger and never once did she brag about schools she got into or test scores or anything. She was very reluctant to tell her adopted parents when she got into her number one school choice, UCLA. Graduation was extremely scary for young Cassia, seeing as she had absolutely no idea what she wanted to do. It was sometime during the end of high school that she started having weird dreams about Alice in Wonderland and they were so vivid and life-like they scared her. She found herself staring at flowers wondering if they'd talk to her, or seeing small doors and strange bottles everywhere. Blaming it on the stress of starting at a top notch school, she decided not to tell anyone about all these weird things. To be honest, the whole idea of her seeing all these things felt a bit like insanity and she already had been diagnosed with OCD at age 12 and she wasn't really looking to be put in a looney bin. But she couldn't help the strange twang everytime she read the story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, as well as Through The Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There and felt like she knew the characters personally.
She went off to college and had a blast, getting a B.A. in Psychology at UCLA. She learned to adore L.A. and knew the Westwood area like the back of her hand. It was when she was in her freshman year that she got a strange e-mail about Fairy Tales. At first she thought it was spam, but then again, no one had her UCLA e-mail address and so she opened it. It was an e-mail that described exactly how she'd been feeling lately and told her she was a reincarnation of Alice from Alice in Wonderland. She laughed it off. That was odd, but she kept the e-mail anyways, because as bizarre as it was, it knew exactly what was going on with her. She kept putting it off, for an entire year, she thought it was crazy and maybe it was people from a looney ward trying to get her. She began feeling slightly paranoid about it and it was almost driving her to insanity just thinking about reincarnations. It was just illogical. She did tons of research the summer after freshman year. Research about reincarnations and fairy tales and especially Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Finally, right before she went back to school, she decided to answer the e-mail. She was given a username, and a password and was opened up to an online community and found that all these people felt exactly like her. She was ecstatic! Finally, she wasn't alone. She had just thought she was going insane. Then again, her whole tale was about insanity so she supposed it made sense. She went on to get her Master's, turning down admission to UC Berkeley in order to go across the country to NYC. She needed a change of pace, going to NYU to get a master's in Social Work. She met tons of people, and found an apartment with some of her classmates. She used her quick leaning abilities and was able to finish the course off in a year and a half, taking summer and winter sessions to finish off quicker. She was constantly in school. It was either school or work and it wasn't until she moved back to L.A. that she much of a semblance of a social life.
When she finished up her Master's, she moved back to Los Angeles, getting an apartment with a friend she'd met, Bianca. Her, her cat Dinah, and her bunny Mercedes, and Bianca lived in a nice, two-bedroom apartment in the Valley. She also ended up getting a job, which was extremely exciting for her, working at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood. A few years ago, she contacted her mother to see how she was doing. Apparently, it wasn't so good. After they took Cassia away from her, Janae's drug use had gotten ten times worse. She'd gone from weed, cocaine, and X to stronger drugs and had often taken to stealing from doctors, getting fake prescriptions. She'd nearly overdosed a couple of times on pain killers and her family finally intervened, her parents sending her to a rehabilitation clinic up in Montana where she could get away from the fast city life of Los Angeles. She still keeps in touch with her mother through e-mails, letters, and phone calls, but Cassia is reluctant to go visit. She's afraid it'll stir up old feelings and old hurts and regrets that she suffered as a child and she really only wants to remember her life post-adoption when everything started going right in her life.
Appearance: Standing at approximately 5 feet, 3 inches, Cassia is a small, slender girl, weighing at only 113 pounds. Bright blue eyes frame an optimistic face that almost always bears a smile. And of course, the Princess had blonde hair so it was only natural that Cassia have blonde hair as well. You can always find her in something feminine and girly that doesn't show too much, with a bit of a vintage twist, whether it be some jewelry or a babydoll shirt or a skirt with boots. She adores accessories and shoes and shopping in general so her closet is stuffed to the brim with clothes.
