Journal Entry

Can anyone tell me why I still waste my money on the Prophet?

Objective journalism is dead.

At least it has good company in God and Nietzsche.

I ask myself the same thing everyday, Padma. But they just keep coming.

Apparently, its the only way I can keep up with my own motives and shady dealings. Rather useful when you haven't a bloody clue.

How have you been?

Pretty good. Busy with work and getting settled into my new place.

Trying to be a little more social now that I'm on my own and don't have Parvati to do all my talking for me talk to all the time.

How about you? What have you been up to?

Plotting how to take down the Ministry and replace it with your own puppet regime?

Well, it's good to hear you're settling in.

I'm complete rubbish doing alright, despite the rumors otherwise.

Ah, you've discovered my plans, Padma. Back to the drawing board for me, and just when I'd managed to convince Snape to agree to be the next Dark Lord...oh, I mean Minister of Magic.

Sorry, I'm not usually this much of a prat. It's been a bad week day.

How is Parvati, by the way?

Prat? Nah. Everyone's allowed to be snarky. Snape, despite what he may think, doesn't own the patent on it.

Parvati was doing ok, the last time I talked to her. Still as hyper and giggly as ever. But I haven't seen her since I moved. Been trying to...distance myself from my family. For the sake of my sanity.

If it's not Parvati driving me up the wall, it's my father with his instance that I get married and soon, or my mother with her 'women shouldn't work' lecture. You're lucky you don't have parents to deal with. It's maddening, really.

The question is, was it ever there at all? Well, at least in regards to the Prophet.

How are you, Padma?

In regards to the Prophet? Not in my lifetime, at least. Frankly, I prefer the Times and the Guardian. At least muggles seem to understand that subjectivity and sensationalism should be limited to the 'Opinions' page.

I'm doing decent enough. Finally took the last step into adulthood and moved out of Mummy and Daddy's house.

How about you, Ron?

Ever get around to telling Hermione some time in the last nine years that you're absolutely obsessed with her?

News that's actually news? That sounds wonderful.

Very good. Where are you working, then?

I'm good. Living with Harry and Hermione and working for the Twins. Looking for a different job, though. So far I've no idea what.

Wow. I deserve that on so many levels from so many people, don't I?

And yes. Although oddly enough I chose not to use the word 'obsessed'. We're dating.

It is. They're a bit more expensive than the Prophet, but it's worth it.

Over at Gringotts. Cursebreaker Trainee.

If you make an inventory of your strengths and apply them to a representive model of the skill sets typically required for each profession, you should have a decent start.

Well, you were glaring at her and Krum so much during the Yule Ball I thought your eyes were going to fall out of their sockets.

It's good to hear you finally stopped beating around the bush and fessed up.

Oh no, don't say that... if objective journalism dies, then my father is out of a job!

I just meant as far as the Prophet is concerned. Your father's job is safe. And with the way the Prophet is going, the Quibbler will eventually be more creditable.

Actually... Fred and I are considering using used copies of the Prophet as ingredients in one or two new products...

Well... Maybe not really... Though it's a possibility... And a LOT less wasteful than just using the bloody thing for kindling.

A cheap source of confetti? Would be a lot more practical than shredding perfectly good blank paper.

How have you two been?

But would you really want to be rained on by falling scraps of that shite? I think I'd prefer regular paper...

We've been brilliant! In fact, I just had a brilliant idea! You?

True enough.

Brilliant idea, hm? Should I be afraid?

Decent enough. Been working, getting used to being on my own, trying to be a little more social. Things like that. What you been up to lately?
