It has come to my attention, through a post on BRPS, that one or more of you take issue with my portrayal of Laura in this community. I never thought that I would have to defend how I play a character, but this has hurt my feelings, deeply. For one, because I'm approachable. Instead of being passive aggressive, how about talking to me? I don't ( Read more... )

I read that post and too was disappointed. As one who's also been brought up (a while ago, in a tangent on another brps post), I can only imagine how you feel.

As one who's unfamiliar with Laura's canon, I will simply say that I really enjoy reading your pup(s), who are fleshed out with distinctive voices. Eric is glad to have Laura as a friend and wants to reintroduce Tami to her.

I have nothing more constructive than that, to add. <3

Thank you, and I would love to have more threads with Eric, Tami, and Laura <3

You know very well what I think about all this. Sock journals = always fail. BRPS = almost always fail. You = not fail. A person can disagree with characterization, or dislike a plot, or even think someone is a shitty player, but it's pathetic when they feel so righteous about it they think it's not douchey to call someone out, anonymously, in a comm for bitching and whining.

Amen 100x over to all of this.

If you're going to whine and bitch about someone, at least have the decency to do it with your own journal instead of a sock puppet. Better yet, if you feel the need to say something, try doing it in a kind, constructive manner, just chatting with the person. Even better? Unless it affects you directly, live and let play. It's just a game and people are here to have fun. Don't like--don't read.

I completely agree about puppet journals. The internet is anonymous enough anyway. I do not read brps as I don't need to seek more negativity.

I'm sure my pups could get posted over there easily enough and I've certainly messed up enough on things, especially with Tyr (information not available to me at the time). It's your goat.

I'm not familiar with Laura's canon and I think I have only played my Derek with her, and I thoroughly enjoyed that. Won't hear me complaining. :)

The bottom line is us as muns do this as a hobby, for fun. It's a game. If we're having fun then that's the whole point of being here. So, if someone has that problem about canon or the pup/character... they could hit the back button or scroll right along. Find a strictly canon game or something. No one is putting a gun to their head and forcing them to read.

Oh, and I'm all for Laura meeting Tami. She comes from earlier in her canon, does not remember being in the village before, and is a few weeks pregnant -- which she is just about to find out. LOL! I'm game if you are. :)

*hugs*

I don't see this person's problem with your portrayal of Laura. She has a whole new life here that's different from her canon experiences, but she's still perfectly recognisable as Laura Roslin. The whole point of a game like this is to develop characters in a unique setting, interacting with people they wouldn't normally meet, doing things they wouldn't normally do. It would be much more unrealistic if characters *failed* to change as a result of their experiences in the village.

And even if the Mystery Moaner did have a problem, posting about it on BRPS really wasn't the way to deal with it :(

I have read and yet... I manage to have no problem. I've played with you with Welsh and I wasn't concerned about her having no pregnancy in canon. I hope, at least, the fact that commenters on that post all fervently disagreed with Sock has allowed your faith in humanity to remain intact.

Wallys like that are best ignored. You just keep enjoying the game.
