Heh, a classmate of mine is from Iceland. He mocked Danish relentlessly when we took Kierkegaard last term. I'll have to let him know how impossible his own language is :P

Hahah. :D Maybe he mocked Danish because it makes some sense unlike Icelandic is quite easy. ;)

Just so you know, I have decided to learn Icelandic. I hate knowing that there are languages which I cannot understand. :D

Hah, if Danish is easy comparatively, then Icelandic terrifies me :P

I think it was this faux-Denmark/Iceland competition. The professor spent time doing Kierkegaard research in Denmark, so they'd have occasional back and forth about this "rivalry."

I am somewhat fluent in Swedish, and Danish is really much like it, so... :D But Icelandic is so different from both of them - maybe not grammatically, but I cannot get the vocabulary...

There is always competition between Scandinavian countries, you know. :D We are too close, so we have to dig these fake gaps between us. ;)
