am too dumb to read and grasp this. :(

I don't know that there's a better or a worse where communism and capitalism are concerned; both systems have inherent flaws. However, when you read this you have to remember that Marx was so much a product of his time. While much of what he says can be applied to today, a lot of the organized labor ranting was pure 19th-century factory stuff. It isn't quite like that anymore; I believe it's true that capitalism is a self-perpetuating, entrapping system the way he says, but the business about machinery/wages is mostly obsolete. WWII and the resulting technological revolutions changed most of that.

If you think the essay is hard to read, try reading the actual test ;)

I thought you already turned this in?
You'll do fine; it's a good essay.

I did already turn it in. I'm just obsessing over it now. And there's a 67% chance that we'll get to re-write it, so I'm going to continue to obsess until the end of the quarter.

I guess I should point out that the lovely Ms. Johnson got a B on this essay.

That's quite good, considering (a) this is the University of Chicago, after all, and (b) this is the dreaded RAA.

So congratulations.
