Knitting

As of last year knitting became something I did to produce finished products: hat for Grandma, socks for C., bag for T., guitar strap for E. ... The list goes on. As the winter season rolled around knitting lost its joy. I loved knitting, but now I couldnt stand it! I gave up on spinning because I outgrew my drop spindle and can't afford a good ( Read more... )

Title: the green mohair of love
subtitle: how K got her knitting back...

Yay, knitting! I've gotten back into my lace, even if it is making me crazy to count all 57 stitches on every single row so I won't have to tink back through them again.

That lace looks incredible. I dont care what you say about mistakes in it cause it looks amazing. It's so totally worth your effort.

But yeah, hooray for good yarn that makes knitting a pleasure again!

Ooh, fuzzy....

I miss going to wool fests... I meant to try to go this year, but got too busy with work & forgot when it was.

Happy yarning!

After missing sheep and wool two years in a row... proserpia May 9 2007, 16:53:27 UTC
This was the first time I've ever been to one- it was so cool! Ari fell in love with the sheep and rams. He made me go look at all of them with him. He thinks they're adorable. I think the little sheep and rams are the cutest and I said so, but according to him they're "girly cute" and he doesnt think that the little ones are as cute as the big macho ones.

Are there other fiber fests that you know of?

I used to go to them all the time with my family, back in PA (and occasionally OH & WV & western MD)... I don't know where there are others around here, though. I went to the MD S&WF once year right after I moved to MD, but haven't had a chance to go back since.
My parents used to dream of having a few sheep someday, and my mom was a fiber-arts nut too, so I got indoctrinated early into the joys of soft, woolly things ;}

There are fiber festivals all over the country. MD is the biggest, but there's Reinbeck (the NY State fiber festival), The Montpelier festival in VA in October... Lots and lots.

I need to talk to you about "outgrowing" your drop spindle. Maybe you didn't outgrow it as much as master your standard technique on it. Maybe I need to give you some pretty colored roving to see what you can do with it. Maybe you need a challenge... I dare you to spin two ounces of boucle', or two ounces of four ply with a constant color change.

When it's done, there will be many photos. There might even be some before it's done (if I get the chance) :)

:D

I'm a yarn-a-holic. I fear the day when I'll be able to afford to buy yarn on my own. It will be a woolly and expensive day.
