live from estonia!

After a whirlwind trip of some of the towns in the Netherlands surrounding Amsterdam, I'm getting settled in Estonia, making all the arrangements to live here for 10-ish months (getting a local phone number, university ID, bank account, etc). It's really beautiful here ( Read more... )

You mean the sunlight that makes it hard to go to sleep, and impossible to sleep in? ;p We had rain this morning, too... but on the whole, yeah, the summer's really nice here!

My grandmother was Estonian. So, this is kind of cool for me. I am glad I get to live through you vicariously.

That's awesome. If you know what region she was from, I could try to travel there and get some pictures for you. I'll be sure to post pictures and tidbits from my travels anyway.

What the heck is the story with the tilt-y building 2nd from the right? It is so strange, not all the lines are square like cities/towns here. Remnants from the Soviet occupation no doubt. But it kinda looks like New England.

Someday hope to visit the Baltic and discover my roots.

No idea. The university was founded in 1632, though, so the town is at least that old. I highly recommend visiting the Baltic region; I've really enjoyed what I've seen of Finland and Estonia, and I hope to see Latvia and Lithuania too.
