I reckon at this point, Sisyphus has probably adapted better to the boulder than the gods have adapted to forever ensuring that he hasn't stopped.  It must be a pain in the arse to keep checking up on someone over and over again, lest your decrees not be followed and thus, you are no longer a god.

Hmm, your "southern-male-ing" is very similar to my "northern-female-ing". Except, since I don't have a TV, I will be kicking back at the local tavern with some friends. Will still have the beer, though.

I'm really bummed that Jacksonville could not beat the Colts on Thursday. At least the only other unbeaten team (the Saints) got knocked off of their pedestal today.

I'm just assuming that you're a Jacksonville fan. I could be way off. Does one team or another have your allegiance? My decision was made for me before I was born...I'm pretty sure my crib had a little stuffed Vikings Football in it.

I'm not a big fan of the Jaguars. It has nothing to do with the team or the sport, but from a civic standpoint the City of Jacksonville (government, 1 ea) has given the franchise so much money both directly and indirectly while simultaneously exempting their tax burdens from time to time. I suppose if we had great job-training initiatives, better parks and we weren't cutting Adult Literacty or Public Health Outreach initiatives, I'd be ok with an NFL team on our dole.

I'm down with socialized bread, but the market should handle circuses.

Re: Thursday night's game, there was no point in that game that I was under the illusion Manning wouldn't pull out the win. It was a good game - well-played enough to keep me up to the end, but you really need possession and a nine point lead in the final two minutes to beat Manning. He's just on another level, similar to Jordan or Gretsky (although not quite there yet) but in a sport and at a position where being on that level impacts outcomes more than those previously mentioned.

...we weren't cutting Adult Literacty...

I'm going to comment before you get a chance to go back and fix that. :P

Ha. Jacksonville did cut adult literacy programs over the last two years too. I, however, was speaking of the Literacty programs. I'd explain to you what those were, but I'm pressed for time and oh gosh... aren't you late for the tavern?
