[He's looking pretty contemplative as he looks into the SFC screen. In the background, the walls of Mr. H's home can possibly be seen.

It's something that's been nagging at him for quite awhile now.]

...What does having a home mean, anyway?

[Then, realizing how that sounds, he's quick to try to cover it up.]

To you guys, I mean. What does it mean to ( Read more... )

/bothers ♥. So hard to pick between Carl or Klavier. cantataofgrace July 5 2010, 09:11:36 UTC
[ What an odd question. Oh, but then, it's only a little odd, and Carl's kind of curious--he wants to see what other people's worlds are like. So... he considers it carefully. ]

Let's see... a home is somewhere you can always return to. I think that you have to be comfortable enough to sleep there easily, too. I mean, no matter what happens or happened there... [ Like his house... ] ... It's... still your home, in the end. So you have to have at least a few good memories attached to the place, right, Sis?

[ A nod. Giving it a bit more consideration, Carl decides to inquire further to his sister. ] ... Well, this particular phrase is a little cliché... but, "home is where your heart is" works too.

Why not do both? :D /shot protagonized July 6 2010, 01:14:56 UTC
[He thinks about this for a moment. He wasn't honestly expecting answers, but...well, might as well make use of the opportunity, right?]

A place where you're comfortable, huh?

[He's going to ignore the fact that this kid is really, really weird in favor of thinking over his next statement.]

'Where the heart is'? I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds pretty lame.

ACTUALLY you'll get Naoya since he wanted to bug Alice? about dying-- cantataofgrace July 6 2010, 01:34:44 UTC
Well... it is a little cliché, but Sis has a point. I mean, you can't call any place your home, right? A certain city and a certain house, or even if it's just a town, it's where you've made memories. Maybe with someone else. So, I think a home has to be somewhere where you feel at ease.

[ A nod! He thinks that summarizes it quite well. ]

[He shrugs.]

That...makes sense, I guess. Is that what your home is like?

A home is some place where people care about you. Tch, as long as it's not destroyed you can always go back.

[Why does this question really peeve him? He's going back to swearing at himself.]

[He's taken aback by the anger.]

What if your home is some place where you're going to be living alone?

[He's thinking more literally here, like a simple house.]

It ain't gonna be easy but you gotta stay strong in times like those. Do you need me to explain it again?

[He rolls his eyes.]

No, I think I've got it, thanks.

[/sarcasm.

Even though really, he doesn't get it at all.]

Why are you so upset, anyway?

Hi, Alice-san.

[She looks thoughtful, thinking about her own home.]

I think a home is where the people you love are. A place where you feel safe.

Hi, Touka.

[He smiles at seeing her, of course. A moment later, however, he frowns a bit.]

A place where you feel safe...hm. Is that what your home is like?

[She nods.]

Yep! My home is like.......well, I guess that depends on whether you mean, like, my house, or the town where I'm from. Either one, though, I feel safer than I could ever even imagine feeling anywhere else.

...Either. Both? I'm not sure.

But if it's a place that makes you feel safe...

[He trails off, thinking.]

The radio.

[a longer pause as he thinks some more.]

And family. Those together.

[Now he's just confused and a little incredulous.]

The...radio?

I had never listened to the radio until Shoutarou brought me to the office. It was new, compelling. Now it´s familiar and... comfortable.

...So something comfortable and familiar.

I guess that makes sense, even if a radio is kind of weird.

A home is where there's always lots of tasty food to eat and a place to take a nyice nap, meow! But sometimes you have to protect it from evil forces, like the black squiggly! And sometimes people build huge cities over your home, too, and you'll need lots of money if you want to get the sky back, meow.

...Right. That explains everything.

[so sarcastic, sob. But he huffs, shaking his head.]

A place with a lot of food? That's a pretty weird definition.
