PERSONALITY:
As a silent protagonist, much of Souji's personality can be interpreted by the player. However, that does not mean that he is a complete blank state, as he often shows off his own odd quirks regardless. It's definitely possible to see his own personality within his actions and options as a player.

His friends say that he is a quiet person. This isn't just because he's a silent protag. Despite being the leader of the team, Souji is a fairly quiet person. He speaks when appropriate during discussion, and sometimes he's the last dry-wit comment to the end of a joke. As the leader of the investigation team, he has the final say in decision-making, so he often chooses his words carefully and speaks up when it's the right time. His words are a tool, not a weapon. The same goes for when he's hanging out with somebody. He won't say things to necessarily please people all the time, but they're words that ultimately help people figure themselves out. Still, Souji listens more than he speaks. He's a shoulder for others to cry on. And usually he's just quietly listening and observing in conversation, taking in the atmosphere.

Outwardly, Souji appears calm and cool. He holds himself that way too, his hand usually perched on his hip. Other students not only look up to him, but they're mystified by him being a new transfer student and all. Especially from the city! Souji himself doesn't seem to be fazed by much. Sticking his hand in a TV with people around? Ain't no big thing. Doing requests for a fox and talking to it for the rest of the day? That's nothing. Souji is admittedly an oddball, and he has his own set of quirks that usually puzzle his friends. From magic tricks, to singing to lost dogs, to scaring a man with a phobia of cats by meowing, to feeding all the stray cats (notably the only personal quest he ever grants to himself without player consent), Souji is a weird one indeed.

Yet he holds a charisma in him that attracts people. He can be flirtatious, especially with the girls, and he isn't beyond teasing others here and there. His sense of humor is a little dry and sarcastic, and he isn't afraid to make humorous quips. He also sometimes thinks overdramatically when in an extreme situation, such as when swimming in a river that your homeroom teacher just barfed in... He literally felt (as expressed through narrative) as though a million showers would never make him clean. He has the courage to make bold statements without fear of backlash, even to someone of authority like his uncle (who's also a cop, by the way).

Well, it goes without saying that Souji is a friendly guy. He may look cool and collected, but he's very approachable and always willing to help others with their problems. Whether it's a task to make a model rocket for someone, or lending an ear to a friend, he'll do it. He's always running around town doing odd requests for people, and people come to him for help. As mentioned before, Souji is a solid shoulder for others to cry on. He listens to people's problems and tries his best to help them through it. He doesn't push people necessarily; sometimes it's just advice or something to help them realize their true feelings inside. In a way, he's a catalyst to others by just being there. Souji's created many precious bonds with his friends in Inaba, manifested when he helped them overcome their hardships.

He's also very diligent and able to manage his time well. He is skilled in cooking and crafts and he does them expertly. AND YOSUKE TESTIFIES HE'S GOOD WITH HIS HANDS HURRRR When he's doing a part-time job, such as envelope-folding or origami crane-making, he often motivates himself to help him focus on his task. He is able to schedule himself for the day too, breaking up his time for everyone as efficiently as possible while investigating a murder case. Not easy stuff, but he performs it well.

As a leader, he takes charge. His rational thought and ability to keep cool earns him respect amongst his friends and lends itself to his title of leader. He issues orders to his teammates in combat and always leads the party into the dungeon. When a situation is looking tough, he manages to keep himself level-headed and focused. And when the team is divided amongst itself, Souji is able to step in and keep them together. They had a crucial decision near the end of the game, whether to accuse an innocent man or not of murder in the face of a loved one's "death". Despite losing someone he loved recently, Souji was able to separate himself from his emotions and keep calm. Anyone else would be too rattled. But somehow Souji, with all his inner strength, found it within himself to refocus and rethink. His ability to rationalize allowed him to seek the truth.

Souji is quiet, but friendly. He's honest and a little odd, but he always means well. He's reliable, which is why others depend on him so much. He doesn't let things get to him; he can stay level-headed. Overall he makes one great guy and a great friend.

ABILITIES:
Physically, Souji can fight using two-handed swords or other everyday objects such as golf clubs. It's likely he hasn't had official training prior, because he mostly just swings it around, but he does the best with what he has. His real abilities lie within his unique Persona power.

As the Wild Card, Souji is able to summon and wield several Personas at once. Personas are the manifestations of a person's personality, a "mask" to face and overcome life's hardships. Since Souji is able to carry more than one, it opens up his range of abilities, making him a "jack of all trades". He can be as offensive, defensive, and supportive as he wants. Souji will bring these three Personas, with power caps as necessary (such as for some skills like salvation and samarecarm for example).

JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:
(journal entry from discedo, briefly expanded upon.)

There's a lot of new faces, so I should probably introduce myself again. My name is Souji Seta, and I teach the elementary school here. [Souji greets politely with a slight bow of his head.] Lately I haven't due to recent events, but when things cool down, I'll resume class. I also help at the Soup Kitchen and the Northern Lights' bar, so stop by sometime for food or a drink. And of course if you need help, I'd be willing to lend a hand.

That aside, this spring and summer have been fairly normal, haven't they? Not counting the incidents last month and in June. There's been nothing weird with the weather or environment like last year. [A small chuckle, somewhat amused. Maybe there was even light sarcasm hidden away, if one looks closely enough.] It's nice, for a change.

I wonder if it'll continue like this into autumn. If it does, we could have another festival in the city. [He smiles quietly, a hint of excitement in his eyes. He'd like another big festival for everyone to gather to. Wasn't it a good opportunity to catch up and have fun at the same time? And for the time, forget the horrific things that have happened.]

Also, when Chie recovers, let's have a party for her. Last month was her birthday, but due to circumstances, we couldn't celebrate. It's better late than never, right?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
It was just a coincidence that Souji found it.

It must've been around the time he first arrived in Inaba. He smiled politely to the Moel gas attendant as he strolled through the shopping district, aimless and with no real destination in mind. Yukiko had already been rescued from the TV world, and they just had to wait for her to recover. He didn't have to go out into the rain today, but he figured it would cool his head a little before watching the Midnight Channel tonight. Maybe he would check out the discounts at the shops, or tackle that formidable Rainy Day Special at Aiya's. His stomach still distantly ached with the pain of his previous attempt.

But then, he found it. A meek-looking gray tabby cat trying to hide from the rain. It must've been a stray; there was no collar or sign of ownership. Or maybe it was abandoned. Either way, Souji had abandoned any vague plans of shopping to feed the weak cat.

He didn't have to, but he just couldn't leave it alone.

Afterwards, he started visiting it more often. The cat usually waited for him in the same spot, and Souji usually arrived after-school with a can of fresh tuna fish in his bag.

"You're just like me, aren't you?" Souji commented one day near the end of spring, rubbing its soft fur with the back of his finger. The cat purred as if in agreement, but Souji knew that couldn't be right. He still had a family unlike this cat, but that family was overseas on business for the rest of the year. It was all right; he wasn't particularly sad about it. They usually had to leave for business, so he was used to being alone in a new place. Having to start over all the time. It bothered him more as a child, but he was almost an adult now. He learned how to deal with loneliness. He learned how to make friends, even if they wouldn't last once he was gone.

"But this time, things are more interesting," he mused with a chuckle. Gaining his Persona, investigating with his friends, chasing after a murderer- it wasn't something he would've predicted when he first came here. Souji didn't get any more cellphone calls or text messages from former classmates when he left the city. When he transferred out, he became invisible again, like a ghost passing through town. It was always like that whenever he moved somewhere new. But already his cellphone was filling up with random messages from Yosuke or Chie. Sometimes about the investigation, sometimes just to hang out. He recently got one from Yukiko too, a newly added number to his contact list. It was hard not to get attached to the little words on his screen, often misspelled but holding real meaning. A real bond.

Over the year, the cat grew up and became stronger. Souji's contact list became longer and his inbox was always full of messages. It wasn't just Yosuke or Chie anymore, it was all of his friends from school. Not just the Investigation team, but from his clubs too. Bit by bit, his isolated heart became connected to others through a bond, giving him strength. And somehow, it felt like even when he had to leave, those bonds would still be there, keeping them all together.

It was almost spring again. Eventually that cat had found friends by the riverbank and Souji saw less and less of it these days. He still sometimes left an open can of tuna in the place they first met. It wasn't necessary anymore, but he enjoyed the sentiment.

"Dude, what are you doing?" Yosuke called out to him with an easy wink. "We're still meeting Kou and Daisuke at Aiya's, aren't we?"

Souji turned around and smiled, shrugging slightly. "Yeah, let's go. I'm starving to death."

Yosuke shook his head with a laugh. "If you were starving to death, you wouldn't be standing around like that. C'mon, before my stomach turns in on itself."

"Chie can do that for you too."

In one year, the small feeble cat became strong and found friends. Souji did too. And even when he had to leave come spring, he didn't think he'd leave lonely again.
