not aimed at anyone i know, just some annoying strangers

I hate more than anything:

humorless fans, the type who will look at a picture that was meant to be a joke and then, with a deadpan expression, correct you on a small detail, usually not even about the picture but what you said in the comments.

This is exactly the reason why I started to hate Snape, or at least his fandom. A lot of his fans are so very humorless -- at least with Ganondorf, everyone who knows about him has called him 'Ganondork' at some point, so no one takes him seriously and I can be free to enjoy mocking the hell out of him, which is my favorite thing.

With Snape it was all super-creepy-serious all the time, writing angsty poems and painting angsty paintings about his heartbreak. I made the mistake once of telling some crazy fan that I hated the whole Lily aspect and thought the character was better before that little revelation, and she went nuts on me. How dare I not enjoy the everlasting angst? How dare I enjoy that he was cruel to children? How dare I not care about him being redeeeeeemed?

After that talking-to, I sort of lost my taste for the character. Is it a shame that the main enjoyment I got out of him was he was just some horribly mean guy? I don't care about his love life, god. I just want to laugh at him mocking people. I've liked him since the first book because that's what I wanted out of him, clever quips. There's an enormous, enormous amount of fanfiction written about him, and the best ones are not the angsty, dramatic ones, but the ones that are just about him being mean and clever.

Super-serious characters are just... begging to be made fun of.  When I fulfill that need, there is always some nerd there with their feelings hurt that not everyone in the world likes to take things as seriously as they do. You can go take the character way too seriously on your own seedy corner of the internet. Go cosplay angsty poses of them holding roses or something. Don't get mad that that's not the particular way I like to get my kicks. I already feel pressured to take things more seriously than I like as it is.

I'm not going to award you a prize for your overwhelming pedantry. That's the type of thing that gets you beat up after school, and for good reason, you horrible nerds.
