heroes & villains

The Art Foundation students at VCU put on a Heroes and Villains Pageant last week, where they designed their own superhero or villain costumes and came up with character concepts around them. Rachael and I were there, and she took lots of pictures of the event (thank you, Rachael!). So check it out if you think you might be interested in that sort ( Read more... )

I always thought this one looked bad

Particularly the normally gorgeous Judy Reyes who looks like a drag queen on it.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I've never seen Scrubs though so I don't know if I'll use it or not, but thanks for sharing!

Ooh, that Tripping the Rift one is pretty bad. As for Rocky IV, that's a horrible image, but I don't know if that's what I want to use. It's a dumb picture, the the design of the cover isn't inherently bad exactly. It depends on the final approach I want to take, but I'm leaning towards ones with a crappy design (or obvious crappy photoshopping). For example, the Star Wars original trilogy re-releases with the shitty photoshopping, or the Matrix Revolutions cover.

Did you see the original cover for The Fountain DVD? It was horrible, and I'm very glad they changed it.

In my mind, the Rocky IV cover is bad just because the movie is so damn cool (or at least I watched it alot as a kid). They couldn't had some cool fight shot or SOMETHING instead of just a pick of Rocky as they did for ALL the Rocky movies in that DVD set release.

And I hadn't heard about "The Fountain" DVD covers but man, I'm so glad they changed it. Movie was trippy but I loved it almost as much as I love Hugh Jackman.

Hollywood Homicide DVD cover makes it look like some guy did it on a weekend and they released it the following Tuesday on DVD.

The Matrix Revolutions DVD cover has to be on it. Individually, each of the 4 drawings were pretty badass and would've made great "collector" covers sold separately so people could buy whichever image was their favorite. But what do they do? A quick photoshop job by slapping ALL FOUR of them together on the same cover and making it look like shit.

Dude, the Matrix Revolutions DVD cover was the absolute first one I thought of and might just be the worst DVD cover I have ever seen.

Here's a really bad one. It's a cheapo release of the movie, and there have been many better covers for it, but this one cracks me up. The file is really huge, I had to scan the actual cover, so you'd have to scale it down to be usuable.

Thanks Declan...that thing is absolutely hideous! I'd already sent in my piece to Roger by the time I saw this, BUT I will keep is stored away for a followup piece that I will almost certainly do once I have enough material.
