If I'm registered to vote in South Dakota, have my car registered in South Dakota, but work in DC and live in Maryland, do I still have to pay Maryland state income tax? Because... I'm from South Dakota. I just shouldn't have to ( Read more... )

You should probably ask a tax-type person from the area. Depending on local laws, you might have to file for DC and MD, since you're earning income in one and residing in the other. You can usually only claim non-residence if you're a full-time student or in the military.

If it's not the starter, might be the fuel pump. Or, if the battery itself is okay, check the wires and terminals for connections and corrosion?

It's up to the state's lawmakers. You have to pay taxes to New York for any income you earn from a New York employer, regardless of where you live. We live in New Jersey, which gives us a credit, thankfully, for taxes paid to other jurisdictions. I think other states have similar arrangements.

I imagine Maryland state income taxes are a lot higher than those in South Dakota.
